Its for a "moron" to run in there and hide, or so he thinks, to wait on the troops running and then kill them all and be a hero!

Convoys end at a building known as a "depot".  Totally separate from the indestructible.  The hanger just serves as a place to pick your ride & skin.  It neither helps or hurts attackers or defenders.  There is also another building on the field that's indestructible (by default) called the Briefing Room.  It's sole purpose is where you get your initial "briefing" at the beginning of a staged mission.

And tower...so you can watch  the vulchers and destruction  of your base with relative safety. .dam those bish hoards
I always like to ping the windows of the tower just in case any one is in there waiting..it's fun..

Because it is now two different objects, the floor is the actual hangar. The out side shell is something else.
