Why is there an indestructible hangar?
« on: February 12, 2016, 09:12:14 PM »
Here's something I have been wondering about:

Why is there such a thing as an indestructible hangar?

It's the hanger in which you select your plane/vehicle.  Not a good idea for it to be destroyed.

Once everything else is destroyed maybe it should be open season on it...

Why?  It has no score. It doesn't effect the game.  It doesn't need to go down to close the base.  So, essentially, it is worthless and accomplishes nothing, so feel free to bomb the crap out of it, the end result is exactly the same, target practice.  Technically, it's already open season on it. Wish Granted :)

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

I guess you're right.

I have probably wasted more bombs on that stupid thing than I can count in the distant past.  :rofl

As far as the program is concerned, why does such a structure need to exist?  Why does the program require that such a structure exists on the field in order for you to be able to select your vehicle?  Is it just a placeholder for that function?  If so, does it need to be visible?

I am asking not just from player's curiosity, but from computer geek curiosity.

Indestructible but not bomb proof looking at the damage and the habit of bombing it during a base take usually kills the gv hiding inside. Kills my gv anyway  :D

@Mongoose: First, I don't know anything about coding. Second, I don't know anything about tactics. Yet, I believe I can answer your questions.

Why does it need to exist? Why not? It's got a function so it has to exist. I'd find it more strange and less immersible to be able to select vehicles in an invisible or non-existing place. It's not a Higgs boson or a Gravitational wave which have to exist based on calculations, but have been actually proved to exist only lately.

If it could be destroyed, there should be some other means to tell that some planes/vehicles aren't available, or that some resources such as bombs or fuel are restricted. It could as well be a grunt carrying a damage report. Or, like in the early text based games, simply a text message telling all that. However, there's much more information in clicking "Hangar" than in the clipboard right click "<field#> status" report that something just has to exist.

I suppose that if the detailed situation report of available resources is tied to a certain object on the field, it'd be easier to make sure every field has it.

Then again, all of the above may just be totally wrong. In that case, read the first two sentences again.
