I called MS on volume licenses and decided there is no way they could do legitimately what they are doing.

Yep, eventually that "good deal" would end up being a "license cancelled by MS due to fraud" type of deal - I too thought long and hard about trying it for a couple machines I have that are older laptops - just not worth if, if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
