Mute Range Vox
« on: February 28, 2016, 10:09:49 AM »
I wish for a way to mute/detune range. Last night in TT in was constant babbling on range andno one could hear anything but vox. Even if you shut down your vehicle you couldn't hear other vehicles around you because it was 100% vox.

We need a way to shut down range completely for those that don't want to hear it at that moment.

Would be nice to have range, channel, air and ground vox volume sliders to prioritize who we wanted to hear.

Us folks in the air don't need to hear all the banjos, wood whittling and recipe sharing from the camping jamboree.   :neener:

For POTW being a larger squad, this would help a ton.

Everyone needs to say the same thing 8 times. "troops running" "White Flag" These things don't need to be said more then once but everyone feels the need to say them over and over.

When this stuff happens, our squad vox gets clogged. I tried to fix this by hosting a Teamspeak channel for POTW but a lot just don't want to use it (Which is crazy to me)

When I'm flying with my squad on squad night....I don't need range vox and people don't need to talk to me on range.

Its helpful during field capture or defense to cross talk between ground and air.  I like the slide idea or some variation of that.

Don't forget beer drinking and tobacco chewing!

But seriously could go for something like this since all of them could be turned down to 0 and mute all vox communications. Cause I personally would rather be able to hear enemy GV engines rather than a bunch a blabbing on vox.

AH3 has a dedicated tank arena which will probably make this an unnecessary wish where GVers are concerned. AH3 may well end up splitting out all the single concept loyalty players from the MA to the new single concept specific arenas leaving the MA a ghost town. Getting what you have wanted all these years with single concept arenas to fulfill your MA redesign desires may well end the whole MA concept which is the heart of Aces High.

Or the single concept arenas will have tiny followings while everyone else goes to the MA to be where the people are.

You never know, maybe Hitech will enable you guys to "self segregate" range VOX against his previous statement a few years back against doing so. The country specific community's would become several single issue VOX clubs instead of a community. So why have none of you been able to talk your country community into using agreed upon ch1xx channels as a custom like ch200 replaced ch1?

Almost seems like a back door to getting unlimited permanent squelch.

I would like to see a Korea Jet arena and the normal arenas we have now....I'm interested in Hitech's comment "think CT" he posted a while back....but if AH3 had the graphics update(with out as much frame dumping, which they are working on...which is awesome), same MA, a slider control for different comms channels, permasquelch, 1 hour rule, and man guns couldn't be sat in until FH or VHs went down....I'd be more than cool with that.

You saying last night that there is now going to be AA AI over Tank town sounds like crap IMO....some of the best air fights happen between people providing fighter cover over tank town....puffy and crap would ruin that.

Take up the AA bases at tank town CraterMA AH3 with Greebo. That was his decision to give tankers a relatively undisturbed fighting area. There is only 63 88mm on each base which is Hitech's decision. I bet the 49ers will carpet bomb them from 30k along with taking AA strats down to zero. HQ will now be defended by those AA bases.

If you have problems with the choices contributors are making for the upcoming AH3 release, and with Hitech's blessings if they are showing up in the beta in one capacity or another. You have the same freedom to express your opinion in the beta forum as they have to contribute their creations to AH3. Building terrains is not complicated, simply time consuming. Greebo and Easycor will answer your questions and give advice as your offering takes shape.

Greebo has never been adverse to discussing his decisions about the changes he's made for AH3 with the new capabilities in the AH3 terrain editor. He has made a few suggested changes in the last couple of months. First you have to talk to him in the beta forum about CraterMA since Hitech is using it as a primary terrain in the Melee area. Changes are still possible if you can convince Greebo what you want is better than his vision of tank town. Hitech has no problems with the terrain so far, so you need to open a dialogue before AH3 goes live.

I have not had a chance to talk to Greebo about it, but I will say this....you make it so fighters can't come over the middle bases your going to have an uproar....that is the only 100% sure area to find a fight during low number hours on that map.....Euros and Aussies can attest to that.

My point bustr is you brought up segregated arenas...never been brought up before...only adding specialized arenas like Korea(WW1, AVA, and DA all do fine....not a fight 100% of the time but there is events in them). You immediately throw out any NEW wish since you have become a tester because "It would effect AH3"....first off I know for a fact HTC is keeping what the final product is going to be close to home, the only thing I've seen was "Think CT" - Hitech....which most of the wishes in here can go along with the CT idea of old.

stop coming into every wishlist thread with "AH3"....IT doesn't matter it's not released yet....I would bet a ton of money that some of the problems we see initially in AH3 are ones that have been wished for since Alpha came out. EVERYONE understands HTC is busy and may not get to them because they have a mountain of work to climb through with AH3 but doesn't mean anything new cant be wished for....like I said, I don't see their being much difference between the gameplay of the games (Graphics and maybe some new arena set ups sure) but the actual combat portion....nope....a rolling scissors is a rolling scissors.

Only you are seeing what I'm saying related to affecting AH3. AH3 already has arenas developed around processes that are coincidentally development of wishes from over the years that in effect will result in play style segregation to a point. Or after the wishers discover their utopia arena is a glorified cricket garden, will migrate back to whatever Hitech is calling the MA in AH3.

The wish lists are what they are. The sentiments driving the wish are either narrow and selfish or productive to the community as a whole. Segregating VOX along with perma squelching is selfish and only serves the requestors emotions driving the wanting of it. Not the community as a whole. A few years ago Hitech responded to a VOX request similar to this as why have VOX at all if you want to mute out most or all of your country. Be kind of harsh for complete newbies and newbie sqweekers to not know why no one is talking to them. Not much of a first impression to show off the AH community at it's best and inspire them to hand over their credit card number for the long hual.

A good example of what drives this was a player I knew who left one squad for another. I over heard him on country later telling his new squad that he left the previous squad because he was tired of listening to a bunch of old bubba rednecks talk about everything but the game. He wished Hitech would just get rid of them. His new squad mates flying with him at the time agreed emphatically to his sentiment.

Most of these wishes seem to show up in here after someone wants all the rednecks, bubbas, old guys and sqweekers in the game to just shut up, have a stroke, or find some other game.

Answer to that....leave the help channel as it is now...everyone on country sees it.

I DOUBT all players will detune range if they had that option...I know I would sometimes when I have a 3-5 minute delay in vox comms...but later on I would switch it back because I do communicate with anyone within range especially in a furball (Hoping that the check 6s I throw out will be returned in kind)

Good example on CraterMA....the other night I upped a 152 over the center to intercept incoming tank killers over the top of it I couldn't hear myself think, If I could have lowered vox comms from the ground it would have made my life easier....that's selfish that I was trying to provide better fighter cover???

And Bustr, as far as the AH3 stuff is concerned...I hear it a lot more than others in game because you bring it up every 15 minutes on squad channel...you have this mindset that we won't see the same problems in AH3 as 2 and your wrong...maybe not all the same issues but many will come accross from 2 to 3...only person who knows that answer is the staff at HTC....not the testers
