Top Roll-Rate Planes
« on: March 10, 2016, 06:44:32 AM »
Hey all,

I know the FW-190 and F4u's have great roll rates.  What would you say are the top 5 prop planes with the fastest roll-rates in this game?

Please just list the main variant (ex: FW-190's) to get the most diverse list.

Thanks for your feedback,

The P-38L is no slouch and beats the 190 roll rate at higher speeds.

Impractical as the Spit I and XVI are worlds apart in roll rate.

Fw-190
Spit XVI
F4U
P-51
After that a lot of planes have similar roll rates. Difficult to choose one.

Yep you are right.  Thanks for pointing that out.  Guys please expand your lists as pointed out.

I have found the P-40n has a really good roll-rate too.

It's ability to change direction of it's turn vs like the A6M is why I think it's better than all other turny birds :aok

It owns most other turn fighters in the scissors. Doesnt loose roll rate with speed either. I say that the brew along w the 190 has the best roll abilities in the game.

Dont forget the A6M3,it's clipped wing gives it a better than average roll rate!

The only time a plane has difficulties rolling against torque is at slow speeds with full thrust/power. A slight reduction in throttle will allow you to roll against the torque in most ingame planes.

Use rudder to aid in rolling. In 109s it is perhaps the most important control surface.

Any of the DB 605 powered 109s really. The K-4 can't even hold the torque on ailerons alone at best climb speed or below. You'll just slowly careen off to port.
