Trading Paints

Hey guys.  I also drive in iRacing.  VERY high def 3 x 30 monitors.  looks great.

A feature they have is personalised graphics on your car.  How good would that be in AH!!!!

OK.  hear me out.

Historical type people...you can make very accurate skins.........that is good   :)

The other 99% of us.  Imagine creating YOUR plane.  The one that when enemy get close they just know it is you.  How cool would that be!!!

Examples.....Bright blue 51, Bright red 51, Bright yellow 51....and all sorts of stripes / waves  insignia.

I would love to see this.  Personalise your ride and stand out from the crowd or fly standard.

There is money to be had here as well.  Custom graphics cost....xx$ a week / month / year....

I think it is worth looking at.  I know I would like a more personal and identifiable skin.

There are those that will cry foul due to 'historic' reasons.  Well, history tells us that certain pilots painted their planes differently.  Hell, one pilot even painted his plane bright red - and he is rather well known.

The precedent is there.  Please let us paint our planes individually.  I assure you the hit on graphics in iRacing is going to be much more than we would ever see here and I can run iRacing pretty well :)

There would be a lot of flying noodlees if left too open.

That said, a "paint shop" like in some racing games where some common graphics schemes are availble and the ability to select custom colors would be cool.

Hitech has this one in a giant stack of wishes from the last 15 years on his desk.

I think he prints them out and piles them up. The pile sits right on the edge of the desk with a circular bin underneath the edge against the often vagrant gusts of air from his beating his head against his desk and vibrations from his door being slammed. To print them out for the pile, Hitech reads all of the wishes. After that, the longer he goes without doing anything about any given wish, to the periodicity of the wish's return in it's permutations being repeated. Is a black hole of: who knows the mind of the "Shadow" only the "Shadow Knows"......

Once a few years back I think Hitech replied to this kind of a wish with an executive veto. Search is your friend.

Exactly, CoD: Black Ops had a simple emblem maker and I figure at least 50% of all emblems fell into 2 catagories - dicks or Nazi flags.

Thanks for your replies.

Iracing has a thriving sub culture of people providing skins for cars.  It works for them.  Check it out.  Some of the 'skinners' have gone on to have full time positions with race teams.

I guess it says a lot about our community that we instantly assume bad will come of it.  Shame.

If one ignores the technical aspects (there's a subtle difference between 40 vehicles on a track and the possibility of 100+ aircraft within sight) as long as it's able to be turned off, there's absolutely no reason not to do it.

When we are forced to stop ignoring the technical aspects, it's unlikely to happen unless it is extremely limited compared to what many envision.
