the palm hat, being so big and directly below the palm.....................its triggers off quite easily, too easily. Having a 9th button as you describe it would get triggered too easily and prolly at a critical time. ie: shooting

My other version of palm hat before, ruined too many shots cuz I would trip the side view button trying to use another button, ie: flaps. Thus blinding me for the shot. This was a primary reason for the rebuild.

Gonna take me some use time to remember button selections and for my hand to get use to newer layout. I get lost ez. If I had to use the KB to fly, I would not be able to play. I'm a hunt an peck typer, I have to look at KB to type, never learned to type. Plus, my craftsman skills do not translate to KB or piano type finger play. I grab tools with 5 fingers for 40 years, the digits are locked together.

nice idea tho mr shida. Still a 4 button hat, plus 2 added for look up and look back up. I got great sit rep. 360 degrees +

below is my old build.

Dang,
I did not think going from an 8 bit controller to a 12 bit would mean much, but this new controller is a lot smoother in flight than my older one.

Yup, I perceived a huge difference in smoothness but could never find out if HTC modelled the inputs in the game with 8, 16 or 32 bits. Probably 16 in which case we do have more precision. Certainly at the encoding end (analogue to digital) at least.

I was doing some image processing / computer vision projects at the time I made my throttle and the best analogy is digital photographs:

My throttle is six years old now. I broke one small part in the first month of use and made a stronger replacement. Since then it's had no maintenance besides blowing the dust off it here and there. Never had to recalibrate it either. Not once.

If you're using the Bodnar board you can even change ports and it will remain in calibration. I upgraded a CH Fighterstick Pro to a true 12-bit and so I could have a longer throw and it's been great all around. I'm not using it for all it's worth though. I have it setup for just two buttons and no hat switch. I did not see a primary need for anything like that in AH, either.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

All you had to do is look at the numbers in parentheses in the "Map Controllers" panel and you would see we model what DirectX gives us, which is 16 bits, unsigned.  That is the native resolution DirectInput provides to all applications.

Ah there you go. So we do have superior equipment, that's why we win all those fights

A whole nibble of wasted data Skuzzy! What decadence!

Oh I see them now! Those are the actual values passed to the game Skuzzy? Cool.

My throttle is documented over here:

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,297108.msg3793717.html#msg3793717

The only thing I've changed since then is I've added a counterbalance cast out of Bismuth.

About my joystick, really been in development hell. I'm usually far too busy with other similar projects which rather pay or I'm assessed on so that it is always bottom of my todo list. I was thinking of making an AH blog about it, thinking it would also help inspire me to finish it. But then it'd cost a lot of energy and for the dozen people worldwide who'd subscribe, I wonder if it's worth it. Part of the reason I came back, to see if I still enjoy flying enough to decide to finish it or not. I think I will, especially as I have to stop flying anyway as the new release comes out.
