I've built a training arena for newbies to AH3 that allows them to learn how to use the wirbel\osti, 37mm, and 88mm at MA realistic ranges against realistic fly over angles. The AH3 default gunsights for the wirbel\osti have range guides. I found the manual for the gunsight in the flackpanzers. And there is that new Flack base object with 63 88mm, 9 of them manable.
When we had 400-500 players a night, the idea of something like this wouldn't have been too bad because we had the numbers to make up the losses of those more timid players driven out by the likes of Lazer and Junky wiping them out on every engagement 20 seconds after the first merge. We don't have the numbers to waste like that anymore when Hitech needs to gain new subscriptions.
Most people will refuse to spend $15.00 a month to loose all the time just to get proficient in about 3 years. And only a minority of them will be interested in becoming anything more than proficient to have their fun. You cannot keep the doors open with the revenue from a minority of subscribers. Unless you substantially increase the subscription fee to make up for those forced out of the game by not feeling like they will ever have a chance to win against the over saturation of vets that our game has dwindled down to.
Lazer I noticed last night we didn't have an issue with finding enough people who wanted to furball. We had the issue if we de-acked, then slaughtered the bish who were hiding in their ack, they would stop upping. For some reason both the bish and rooks refuse to keep furballing with us knights if everything is even and they have to fight it out in the bushes heads up. Monday night madness in the AvA has about 20 dedicated furballers who go at it for about 2 hours and no one hides in the ack. You cannot force people to fight by punishing them for not playing your way, which is how many will see the loss of ack.
So your saying Lazer and I drive people away from the game because we are competitively looking for a fight??? Hell last time I looked at the roster it's a bunch of base taking squads with large numbers, can't remember the last time I seen more then 3 AoM members on or any BKs....I wonder what the results would be if HTC polled what people play AH for...I bet the majority is base takers currently because the game lends itself to that. I always thought the base take portion of AH was to spawn fights...which currently with the systems in place...is lacking with low numbers.
It doesn't take 3 years to learn ACM...I can teach a person to be semi competitive in about 30 minutes in the TA or DA as long as they already know basic flight manuevers (that's the hard part and you got to give trainers credit there)
I fly most sorties either in a plane that isn't suppose to turn with most other late war rides or from an alt disadvantage to make my fights better for myself and also my enemy....I know a lot don't know how to fight their way out of a blindfold when it comes to ACM...a lot of times if they start running home away after trying to fight, I let them go because at least they tried.
People like Lazer and I aren't a minority....to most, any change to either thing they wouldn't care in the end because A) they only play US prime time when it doesn't matter much and B) They play the game the way it used to be played...prior to the resupply M3 MADNESS.
The ack is just funny to me, you see a base flashing...you jump in gun and see what's coming in. HOW IS THAT FUN????? So many people do this now instead of upping LA7s....which was the primary base defender 4-5 years ago....
I think Chilli had the right idea, make guns part of vehicle scores, that way any scorers won't want to up that immediately because it effects them negatively if there isn't anything there within gun range.
