Will a high end monitor provide a better picture than standard monitors in game? Sometimes people will mention things like a certain gun up on a field, but I cannot see it.

Yes, but it is a double-edged sword in Aces High. I can see things a lot further away, but when a con/bogey is at dot range and not an icon yet it is invisible to me. My last monitor was a lot better at seeing cons at a distance, but I had to zoom to maximum to make out guns and sometimes I would think there was one up and drop on it only to find it was down. Antialiasing has a lot to do with it, too. As does your video card, so it's not all monitor related.

Are you saying crank up the antialiasing to see better in game?  At the least that would probably help you see the details right?

There's several variables. Some people have reported that disabling anti-alias makes them see things more clearly. As you know, AA smudges the edges and when the object is very small like a dot in the distance all you may see is a smudge instead of a dot. Then again, some people really need AA to get rid of jagged edges. The size, quality and resolution of the monitor all have an effect, as does the driver version and model of your video card. There's no one-for-all way to set the graphics up.

Just go into the game and use the cruiser guns somewhere and determine how far you can see objects. I can generally kill guns up to 10k distance from an M4, but I can't tell you how far away I can see details on the guns (I would guess up to 6k). I use GTX 980s and a 4k monitor.

A large, low lag, tv might be a consideration.  A forty inch tv gives quite a view as an example.

I just got a GTX 970 and an ASUS 24" 144hz monitor, definitely better, clearer, than what I had, still tweaking, I'll have to try the big gun test and see how it goes.

(To bad there isn't a "One Size fits all recommendation") lol, ok fixed!! lets go play!!
