Why do we have strat targets at all in the game with that in mind?
(That was in response to Hitech's comment about flying around on the off chance that someone might show up to bomb the strat.)
@ Del, That depends on the arena.
Ignoring the MA situation, Strat can impact a frame in special events if used for that purpose instead of simply scoring points. It really depends on context and settings for an event. Sometimes it really is about points!
For either the MA or a special events arena, it becomes an issue with the terrain. Either the terrain allows a country enough warning to defend or it doesn't. The response by the defenders depends on what the builder expects for settings and whether he plans ahead and hopes for a fight. It's a razor thin edge to balance atop and it can be undone in a heartbeat.
More usually however, neither the terrain builder or the event designer takes the terrain into account. Case in point, Fester says he "designs his MA terrains to promote fights."
Another terrain builder did not include any GV spawn points in his terrain. His editor/CO literally threw some into the terrain so it would have a few GV spawns before submitting it. That was years ago so hopefully something has been done to improve the situation on an otherwise nice terrain.
Whether in the MA or in a Special Events Arena, game play can break down if the terrain doesn't encourage a fight. The Strat has a purpose! It's up to the event designer, or the players in the MA to decide how they want to use it!
