P-51B of John Godfrey - Don Gentile's Wingman - In Game?

Is Godfrey's Mustang in the game?   I don't recall seeing it the last time I checked.

I realize we already have Shangri La from that squadron, but anyone who knows of Gentile and Godfrey understands what a great team they were--so much so they gained personal mention by Winston Churchill.

If it hasn't been already, would this skin be eligible for inclusion given the subject?   If so I would like to take a crack at it.

Well, we have Gentile, but we don't have Godfrey.   Not sure I can do better, but it will be different.   Just seems like Godfrey's plane belongs in here.   They were an awesome team.

The markings are somewhat different as well.  Spinners and such are different slightly.

Would hate to do all the work and get shot down though.

Again, I've done sister planes that are very similar to what was already in game. See the desert shark-mouthed P-40E's by Ink and myself. Also, I think that the relationship between the two pilots merits consideration.

I agree with your assessment on their relationship.   Batman and Robin or something like that.  I just thought Skuzzy was against planes from the same squadron so was hoping he would weigh in before I started.   In any event, I will give it a shot and see what happens.

He only flew it for a week before another pilot crunched it.

That said, perhaps I could do them both. 

I have a painting of Gentile and Godfrey over my fireplace...   "No Quarry Today" by DeNardo.   After Gentile mashed his machine he was sent home.  Godfrey got flamed by his own wingman.   They were at their best in OD B Mustangs...   I am drawn to that.

When Gentile died Godfrey followed shortly thereafter.   I figure they were joined at the hip...but Godfrey never got his due.   Sad.

Any way...    I think players should be able to wing up in the OD Mustangs just like Gentile and Godfrey did.

I also happen to suck at NMF apparently.

Reggie was his brother killed in a torpedo attack if memory serves.  Godfrey's book "The Look of Eagles" is a must have for any 4th FG fan.  Johnny died from ALS in the late 50s.
