flickering issues
« on: April 25, 2016, 07:39:40 PM »
Ok I need some help since I am a dope when it comes to tech issues. I will provide any info needed just tell me what to do so I can get a list. Ive seen guys do that config list and I guess thats where we can start? I have played with my video card settings to no avail. I will try to check in until this issue is resolved. Thanks  guys

My screen seems to flicker while close to the ground and at time the screen will go black as if I just changed a resolution setting and the monitor is adjusting. Anyone else have this issue?

First step is to post a dxdiag Check here on how to do that.

Go here and find the driver for your monitor:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads

Your current drivers are generic.

From what I can see that video card is on the lower end. What in game settings are you using? AA, lighting, texture, and so on.

Isn't this player about the 3rd or 4th HD 6900 series person to have strange issues so far? All of the important card specs to running this game are high enough that they shouldn't have low FPS and the flickering and black screen even with generic monitor drivers. Have all of them upgraded to Win10? Win10 loads old AMD drivers for these cards from what I've seen from the few dxdiag submitted.

I went through 18 months of the alpha with an HD 6770 on Win7 64bit and no problems other than being only 80Gbyte\sec band width with 800 shaders. But, I kept the video drivers up to the latest and it produced 30-60 FPS in 1024. The HD 6900 series should be giving them better results due to BW, data paths, and shaders all being about 2x over my old 6770. More like or even better than the GTX 760 I recently installed.

Oh, don't go own that road! Windows 10 in particular has been causing issues for this precise problem because drivers are out of date, and that includes GPU drivers AND monitor drivers. In fact, you really shouldn't use any generic driver with Windows anyway.

You need to disable that AMD sound driver.  It can cause stability issues.

I also noted the video driver shows only as a DirectX 11 driver.  You need to update it as the native DirectX level is 12 for Windows 10.

enable anit alias
enable lens flare
disable clutter in flight
disable reflection

everything else isnt checked off.

should I leave the AA of on the AMD catalyst software if I have it on in game?

I would set AA in the AMD software to "application controlled" this way you can adjust in the game to test and not worry that it will be forced on.

What texture size are you using? I would disable both the lens flare and the AA and try it again, see if it still does it. Remove one thing at a time and test it again. I know its a slow and boring way to go about it, but it's the only way to find out what is going on.

I would start with everything turned off or down using one of the lowest texture sizes and see if I could get the flickering and black screen. If it works with low settings add more and more back to see how far you can push your video.

I still think your pushing the card too hard, but Bustr did mention others with the 6900 series card having the same issue, so it may be a bug.

So I just tried overriding to manual control on my video card and I increased the RPMS on my fan. I think alot of my problems were from my card overheating in the case. I started at 80 celsius! 176 degrees!  :x I am now getting a card temp of 33c which is about 92 degrees. I unchecked aa and bloom and everything is running smooth now.

It is not DirectX you need to update.  It is your video card driver.
