When I use the skin viewer I unconsciously start using the travel keys I have muscle memory for from the terrain editor. Makes for a smooth transition between editors when you need to look at an object before planting it onto a terrain. The scroller wheel on your mouse is the gas pedal for how fast or slow the view will respond to your keys.
Well, those of us who do plane skins prefer the old system by about 10:1.
There is no reason to not have both. We have hot keys and mouse commands for Word, Excel, etc. to accommodate people. There is no reason or benefit to eliminating the mouse controls--which are much faster, efficient, and intuitive than the keyboard commands. The keyboard controls are clunky at best. Maddening at worst.
As I have stated, I understand why HT is adding the key commands. I do not, however, see any reason to dump the mouse features. We should have both.
Eh, whatever. Skinning takes up too much of my time as it is. This new editor will be my excuse to quit doing skins and work on other things---like my gunnery. LOL
