Regarding the map download.

I always hold my mission briefs 15 minutes prior to launch.  By making this SOP in my squad, it guarantees they get past the long downloads.

As an operational planner and a lead in my squad, I jump in an hour before launch.  If there was a download I thought may effect my squad, I let them know to come earlier.  It is a check and balance I learned from before.  Nothing anyone can do about the length it may take to download a map.

Take some initiative and check it out so your squad is ready.  Nobody's fault but your own if you can't be in the arena on time.

That is a CO responsibility...

Jdog,

I agree with almost everything you typed. I have absolutely no problem with squads going to whichever side they choose. I do have a disdain for some who have a higher regard for themselves at the expense of others and an expectation that all of us who play FSO should share that belief.

IMO Puller came off like his squad deserved Tempests and expected they would be assigned to them for whatever reason. That's presumptuous at best and conceited at worst. That was my only point.

The way Puller worded his post was very offensive to me as I usually fly Allies (No real preference either way but I realize my squad gets allies more often than not to accommodate the dedicated Axis guys), especially the comment that "when we go allies we get bombs and no escort".

The post just reminded me of a spoiled brat.

Puller,

Why should I notice your stats? Didn't know this was about stats! I am well aware of the skills of some of your squad and if you believe its based on stats your mistaken.

This is not a troll, just my opinion of your attitude based on your post. And bringing up my remark in regards to Devil is childish as it has no bearing on this conversation.

Let me explain further about my point with regard to your post. You don't get to choose your ride and mission in FSO. In all the years I have been around its been my experience that you do the best with what is ASSIGNED to you and most importantly, you have fun. I understand you had fun but than you make a remark about going back to axis next month because they are better at using your considerable talents. Can you see why I choose to comment on that?

If not I understand. No hard feelings.

Joker, just a thought, I'm pretty sure AntiHorde went allied for the opportunity to fly Tempests. Cmex is a big lover of flying the aircraft. I highly doubt there was expectation to get it, just a hope that the allied CIC would go "Hmm ..CMEX... I have Tempests to spend"  and put the 2 together. I certainly didn't read Puller use the word "Expect".
What's that old saying about the word "assume"?

Point taken Dolby.

I didn't assume, it was just the way I interpreted his written words.

You posted "I highly doubt there was an expectation to get it, just a hope the allied CiC...." are not the words hope and expectation synonyms?

And I agree I could have been wrong but Puller has posted nothing to change my interpretation.

Dolby is correct...I had no expectations for actually getting cmex in a tempest... I told the squad as much in my email before I choose the Allied side....I totally expected to be given bombs and no escort... I had a post in the March FSO thread about just this such thing...

I think someone has been at the end of cmex's gun barrel too many times  :ahand

I see I have made my point and it has been substantiated by Pullers reply.

Dolby, nice to see you try and come to Pullers defense but your dismissal of my synonym example is just rude. I can see anyone's perception but yours is not valid.

We are done here I guess.

I quite agree. If I could edit a couple posts and lock the thread, I would.

As far as the map download goes everybody knew it was a new FSO month And should have came a little early just to download the new map and then they could have went back to the MA and flown until it was time.

Indeed it's bad idea to pop into SEA at 7 minutes to the hour...best be there 20 minutes before as a minimum and really you should be in there at 30 minutes to roll. Map issues, connect troubles, last minute order changes, arena glitches can all play havoc some nights.
