Beta 19, DX11 vs DX9 Frame rate improvement
« on: May 07, 2016, 06:32:02 PM »
I see greater than 25% improvement in frame rate between DX11 and DX9 versions.

At 1920x1080 & 90FOV, in CraterMA terrain, Field A3, using Spitfire MkV, in cockpit at NW runway spawn.  I see 102 fps in DX11 version vs 78 fps in DX9.

Nice work!

Yup! I had about the same effect, much improved frame rates. I had every thing on default and ran approx. 20fps higher than I had in DX9 with other than default running.

Interesting. In DX11 my FPS are about half what I see in DX9 with the same settings. But then Skuzzy says it's not ready for prime time.
Balrog in game. Some day my performance may justify the name. LOL

Disabling shadows will give a solid boost in frame rates.

Tried to run Dx11 version but it wouldn't start up....got a popup saying that a Dx file, 3D3COMPILER.EXE was missing.

Thought this was weird as Win 7 came native w\ Dx 11.............

Wonder if this got corrupted when I had to load Dx 9.0c after my upgrade and clean load of Win 7 HP 64.

Pudgie,

I found this suggestion including the link to and instructions for installing the D3DCompiler_43.dll (last line captured in quote below).  It was recommended for Win 7 64 bit Enterprise as well as for my Win 8.1 64 bit Professional OS, when I had the same error back with Patch 18.

Hi,
Have you tried to install the DirectX Runtime June 2010, which is a optional update that a lot of games need.
Even my Lexmark printer requires it... I will include a link to the full installer...
I'm not 100% sure this is a valid installation for the Enterprise version, but it should be.

  • This is a self extracting package.
  • It will extract after double clicking on it so be sure to note the location where you\it extracted.
  • Then open the folder and double click DXSETUP.

Win7 Pro 64bit

I ran the DX installer from MS that reinstalls all 3 versions OF DX. Now I see a FPS improvement with the alphaDX11.

frame rate up to 20 and actually plays ok, 20 in ah2 would not be too good. Only thing is no one around at the time.

Frame rates were better in DX11 for my old machine running Win10.

Seems to have also cleared up the shimmering of trees etc.  Will have to test more.

You should never load DX9 on Windows 7.  Windows 7 comes with it already.  You may have corrupted the DX11 install.  You should not have to do anything with Windows 7, as long as Service Pack 1 is installed.

remember in earlier versions FLS was telling everyone that could not start the test program they had to manually update w7-8 with the latest DX9 version which was good advice at that time.  This may be a hold over from that earlier testing.

Randy the DX updater just checks your installation and updates any older DX9 files it finds.  If you already have the latest files it doesn't do anything.
