Nolan to Crash Vintage Aircraft?
« on: June 07, 2016, 09:34:30 PM »
Just saw this over on IGN:

Director Christopher Nolan will reportedly be intentionally crashing and destroying a vintage WWII aircraft as part of his production Dunkirk. No details on exactly what the aircraft is, however the IGN report suggests it was formerly a Luftwaffe machine.

This honestly makes me feel a little sick inside. There's so few of those machines left as it is, and it's heart-wrenching enough to see another one lost due to mechanical failure. But to destroy one INTENTIONALLY for a movie? It's honestly a disgusting waste of a historical relic.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

This is the perfect reason to use CGI. If he does destroy a WWII aircraft on purpose, karma sucks and hope it bites him back 100x as hard

Good reason to not spend money on the movie.

I'm more amazed that you guys are actually reading IGN and trust anything they say. They could say the sky is blue and I'd still go outside and verify for myself.

IGN was reporting it from another site, and multiple others are making the same report.

A replica would cost a fraction as much and look better than CGI.  I don't think people set  Mossies on fire any more to make films. They're too valuable financially.  I could be wrong.
