Captains on an Aircraft Carrier
« on: June 15, 2016, 05:38:05 AM »
Seems like on a present day US Navy CVN, there are more O-6 grade Captains on one ship. How does that ship stay afloat wit all that brass?

CO - Captain
XO - Captain
CAG - Captain
Deputy CAG - Captain
CMO - Captain
Chief Engineer - Captain

That is 6 for the carrier. I read that there could be a couple more department heads also a full Captain.  Plus, once at sea, the Admiral's staff has 2 to 3 more Captains.

Crew of 5000 on the USS Ronald Reagan.

Captain density is pretty low, actually.
