« on: June 19, 2016, 09:32:14 PM »
ok...so i haven't been here in quite awhile. shop's been picking up, been gathering/splitting wood for winter, training, etc......

anyway......when i try to come here(to any of the htc pages really) on my home computer, i get problem loading page most of the time. if i keep clicking reload enough, i eventually get here. on the shop computer, i get here no problem at all.....so......what on my end could be causing this?  i know it's gotta be my end, since the shop puter gets right here....

Start with a disk cleanup, then update and run a spyware program.  Most likely simply a stuffed browser cache.  Clean out your history, I set my browser up to simply clear cookies and history when I close the browser.

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

Microsoft internet explorer has a reset browser button under tools, internet options, advanced settings.  Clicking on that can help get rid of malicious addons that could be interfering with page loads.  I had a nasty malware infection that was hijacking page loads and redirecting me to malicious websites.  I ran about 5 different malware, spyware, and antivirus products, and not one could fix it.  A combination of one of the malware tools and the reset button was what finally stopped the redirects, but I suspect that the malware is still on that computer.

You can also try another browser, firefox or chrome.  I've read about problems with firefox getting too stuffed with addons that don't update properly so it quits working so you might try uninstalling and reinstalling if you're already using firefox.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

You didn't tell what flavour of Windows you're using, or which browser. All of the above is good advice, but there's more. For example the Edge browser defaulted in Win10 is known to not work well with some sites or pages within a site.

Also, there's more items that can be reset. A more in-depth list and how-to for each Windows can be found here: http://help.ea.com/nz/article/how-to-flush-dns-cache-for-windows/.

It can be your modem, too. Simply unplug it from the mains, wait for half a minute and replug it. If it has a power button, pushing it a couple of times while unplugged might draw any current out of the capacitors making the power cycle even more effective.

you are correct....'cause....why would i ask for help, and give you guys the info to help you help me.......dammit!! otherwise known as DOH! sometimes i can be a moron.

 anyway....running windozevista. running firefox.

i've tried rebooting the machine, i've powered down the modem/router(still running dsl btw). i've run current versions of malewarebytes, superantispyware, and microsoft security essentials.

this problem's been happening for about 3 months or so......but i hadn't paid it much mind, since i wasn't flying.....but looking to get back into the gams soon now. i'm almost thinking it might just be time to build a new machine, 'cause this one's one that td built for me back in like 08 or 09. it's been fantastic till recently........

Have you tried a different browser?

Sometimes it can be as simple as a faulty ethernet cable or bad ethernet port. If it is wireless, there could be co channel interferrence somewhere very close by the problematic desktop. Try changing the channel the wifi is broadcasting on

Vista can be a PITA by itself. I recall Skuzzy once telling they have to reinstall it every six months just to keep it stable on one of their compatibility testing rigs.

Have you refreshed Firefox? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings It can solve many issues. You'll have to reinstall your add-ons after that.

If your computer is still "fantastic", meaning it has a good enough processor and video card, it might still be usable with some tricks. Mine is that old and I can run the Beta reasonably well, AH2 running @ better than default settings.
