I have seen so many posts on these issues lately. I understand where most of these issues are troublesome but never a solution, so I have an idea. I am not sure it would be feasible or even how to implement it though. I call it "Put your money where your mouth is".
Here it goes. I guess I will start with the problems first. A lot of players either are or believe they are going to be forced to upgrade systems, that isn't cheap. Many more players seem to lament the loss of players and are doubtful that without a robust advertising campaign it just wont get any better. So, I think this idea would help on both of these main problems. I know the standard finished product is only "two weeks" away lol. In the meantime there is a great opportunity for this to help out. What if, we had a "lottery/ raffle" fund raising program? It works for school athletics, boy scouts and a lot of organizations.  Think the raffle part would be 2 birds with one rock type deal. Why? If we had a monthly raffle for lets say, New joysticks, computer components and gift cards maybe even new computers depending on participation of coarse. Would need broad participation to help with the other issue, which is... putting proceeds towards advertising. Pretty sure ads are quite expensive, and its not like Hightech is gouging us on subscription fees. We are getting a brand new game practically and the developers are  working their butts of and they don't work for free. So how would they afford to advertise the way most folk would want them to. So if Hightech was open for this and someone could know how to set it up I think this would work. Sorry this was so long a read, now WAKE UP! So what do you guys think about this plan? :aok

I don't think AH3 requires much computer horsepower.

I have a $400 computer and a $130 graphics card, and I get 55-59 fps with default settings.

As they release further patches the frames have steadily got better...for me at least. Don't think as many would need the computer help as you would think now.

I will stay, first time logged into Beta scared me because of the 4-5 frames I was getting.

Whilst my 8 year old processor and 4 year old 2gig GFX card can play 40-55 FPS with most details off.

I turned off the reflections aswell yesterday because I'm not convinced I like the cockpit perspex effect.  It definitely helped frame rates and just made it look much similar to AH2.

Personally, I have no trouble running AH3 either. This was just an idea. Just get tired of reading gripes about the new AH3, mostly from folk who haven't even checked it out. True, most players in the MA aren't on the forums and wont see this post, just had an idea to maybe lessen the financial impact of upgrading, real or perceived.

Who initially pays for the equipment that you want to raffle, and if it's not out of Hitech's pocket, what is in it for the donors? Will it be philanthropic players pooling new joysticks and mid level graphics cards, or sponsors with their own agendas that are never a free lunch. What will be the legal downsides for HTC if they host this versus it being nonaffiliated advertised on the internet? You can never forget the taxman is watching.

My wife's private university does something like this once a year with the proceeds going to a student grant fund. It's a dinner where alumni, business leaders, associated foundations, media figures, and political figures come for a 4 star dinner then bid on items provided by the university. The university foots the bill for the bid items or they are donated by sources, invitations, a year of meetings to bring in new interested parties, and the dinner. Everyone involved is getting something for their showing up aside from donating money by bidding. Personal exposure, advertising, and networking along with the good will from the community political and media figures need.

Still, a video game is not a university where the interested parties look at a dinner and raffle as worth the donation of money and time for the return in good will and exposure. Granted some of our players are not suffering for disposable income but, what will they get for this if they haven't already located each other and decided they need to give back to this video game to help advertise AH3?

You can start a crowd funding page which has a potential to introduce people to the fact AH even exists. But, once you have those funds, legally can HTC allow you to run an advertising campaign independently of them? You might innocently goof in your messaging and promise the inference of something Hitech has not coded or has no interest in promising. And how will the taxman look at your use of those funds?

Like I said, I have no idea how to set it up, legally or logistically. I am just looking for a solution to some of the complaints I see voiced in the forums. Personally, I have no problem being philanthropic, its an investment into something I have come to love and enjoy. With enough support it would soon become self funded, I would think. This seemed like a better idea than my other one, which was, I am sure Hightech would accept donations in excess of our subscription fees to be put towards advertising. Like that would ever happen on a mass scale. I was just looking to spark discussion on how to help out. Mainly out of frustration as I see all these complaints and pretty much ZERO ideas to fix any of them. ME personally, I receive way more enjoyment  here, than my 15 bucks would get any where else. Just felt a need to try and float an idea out there.

IN AH2
you can set custom field of view-to adjust how it looks in the cockpit--go to video setting on start up-select custom field of view-I use 100 but you can adjust 45-152-right I think default view is set at 152--I felt scrunched in the cockpit..at 100 it looks more normal--you can set it in AH2 as well

We could all get together and put on a show! Forget about all those kids with cancer, lets save a computer game business.    It's a business, not a game.  If HTC runs it into the ground, that's for them to do.  Bad idea, a very bad idea.

What the heck are you talking about? That has got to be the biggest   Nope I am not gonna go there. This was just an idea I had, if you feel the need to be snarky, that's your right. Implying someone cares more about a game than "kids with cancer" was a low blow, and you know it. You don't know me, you don't know what my life situation is either. The attitude you just revealed is the "cancer" in this game. If this reply is against the forum rules, I sincerely apologize. I just couldn't let this go without refuting the inference made in this post.

We all can word of mouth which Youtube has been the best vehicle for our game. Anything past that where you ask people to make donations of hardware and money, you need to talk to Dale the real CEO of HTC along with looking into the legalities for yourself and for HTC the company.

I trust Hitech has a plan or I wouldn't have stayed with the alpha then beta testing since August 2014.

Traveler's just a grouchy old man, like some of the rest of us.  Don't take him - or any of the rest of the BBS posters - too seriously.  We're talking about a game, after all.
