TA 152 Stall...Is there something I'm missing?

People keep saying there is some sort of stall manuever the TA152 can do that gives it an advantage in a fight.

I know how to place it in a stall and get it out of a stall but that only dumps E...really not good for ACM unless it's a last resort.

Maybe one of you real life pilots can tell me what I'm missing here in game.

Side note....did some testing, it isn't rudder like most say which effects the maneuvering and stall of the 152...all about that angle of attack.

Rudder still plays a part.  Get a 152 down to below 150 mph or so and kick full right rudder in more or less level flight.  I can make it depart flight pretty much on command doing this.  I suggest doing this above 10k, because if the stall gets away from you it's going to take you that much air to get it back.

It slews hard sideways, then flat spins like a leaf.  I used to pancake just off the end of the runway on final because of this every once in a while.  Using left rudder, never had it happen.

Never figured out how to use a stall to advantage in the plane though.  It seems like I've seen guys do something vaguely similar to the 109k torque roll at the top of a rope, but I've never looked that hard at it.  I prefer using the fact that it does hammerhead very nicely with proper throttle control instead.

Rudder helps for sure, I'll have to try what your saying, my way to setting it in the stall is pretty instant, nose up right or left roll matching rudder then flick rudder and stick opposite way making sure to keep the nose up....pushing nose forward recovers it almost immediately...might have to ride it our for a little while the plane gets more airspeed but controls work a bit...just finding that sweet spot to keep it level with nose below horizon for speed.

But like you said...these stalls do nothing often happening in the worse moment when you' re reversing back in a scissor or something (How I found my way to produce the stall). Find it hard to believe someone could control it short of flying near level and very low speeds (66 TAS is the lowest I got it in one of these stalls, and it only dropped there for a split second)....only time that would be useful is in a low speed low alt reverse, but you don't have the alt to do it.....puzzles me some peoples paranoia with the TA152's stall and roll rate.

I doubt he ever used any sort of stall to turn fight with planes over and over....feel like people would catch on to that and kill him. My success comes from transferring energy states at the right moments....using my E to create angles and using their E against them (Like making a KI84 do high speed manuevers vs a 152....You might think a KI84 turns better, but not at that speed). But that isn't anything specific about the plane itself except for maneuvering speeds...it's all ACM in the end.

I was just using the level flight low speed as an easy to reproduce, pretty predictable example.  If you do it, you can see the plane depart.  Just a kick and the nose starts to bounce, and you let off the rudder, and the plane's motion vector is still about 20 degrees to the left of forward, then the tail drops and it's in the leaf spin.  Or, if you're quick enough on the rudder you can see the plane almost "snap" back into controlled flight.  The nose stops bouncing and you're flying forward again.

The only way I can see using that instability is at the top of a rope/ rolling scissors.  I've seen what I believe to be occasional examples of it in the arena, but any time I've tried to figure it out, when I'm working in the vertical like that I just can't recover the stall.  I can get it to depart flight but I can't get the nose pointed where I want it to coming down.  I'm curious to see if someone sheds light on it in here.

Off-topic but related to the Ta 152, I'd like to fight / duel with anyone interested. I need as much practice as possible. I love this plane. sorry for the hijack.

Well I only usually get to fly weekday afternoons on CET, but the numbers are so low now I've often been doing project work instead. Why do you want to know Zoney?

Thursday night I was fighting a Ta152 where the player departed into the flat spin and I was so close when it happened I could see his flaps out. He was able to recover and dive away. He even botched a hammer head and stalled with a recovery after about 1000ft tumble. It looked like he dropped flaps as he tried to change his yaw to bring his nose down to the left.

I watched both moot and Grizz turn the Ta152 years ago. May have been my older video card at the time but, on full zoom they looked like they swapped nose for tail like you see the K4 pilots do, the icon said 800. Then suddenly were head on shooting off my rudder over my canopy.

Hit me up as well if you see me on and the arena's slow.  I'm not fancy with it, but I do enjoy turnfighting the 152 when I have to.  It's an addictive plane.

I think what you see them doing is a wing over or hammerhead but when they do it in an equal fight, like rolling scissors....it's them pulling back the throttle in the vertical to get that crossing shot  when the other plane is coming up. It's a good manuever but it does set you up to give a shot op after if you miss. And yea that's why I struggle....bad aim.

haha! I'll take that as a complement. Im just a returning vet. I took a few years off, but im back in the saddle now. My old tag was greywolf.

Great fights yesterday, btw.

Kingpin kindly volunteered to be a sparring partner for me, so i'll be working with him. I'm down for any da action, actually. its sad how empty the place is - it used to be bustling with action.
