engine boost for new players
« on: July 03, 2016, 06:54:26 PM »
If there is a new player he should have an engine boost to get him out of dodge when the going gets tough. To many times new players are cought easily by other planes when they really have no business catching the plane  :O new guys get a boost of power and speed when in danger perhaps when a con is closing on there tail? For 40 seconds the soon to be victims plane gets a 70 to 80 mph boost to get them out of danger. On the screen it would say boost to alert the player and show how many boost were left. Maybe limit this to 2 boosts per sortie for 2 to 3 months? Just enough to be able to get out of there and return home safe.

Maybe this idea has already been discussed but just my 2 cents  :salute

Most new players die Before they have noticed the threat so it would prob not help.
But the main issue is that it would lead to old players creating new accounts so they also could enjoy the boost..

Talk about a gamy wish.

No, while it may seem like your getting killed all the time and will never get better at this game with out "help" like this wish, just remember that each and everyone of us have followed the same path. We have ALL be kill a million times, some of us thousands be fore we won our first fight fair and square.

Practice! Get help from the trainers, then practice some more. Add in a whole lot of dying just like the rest of us and in time you'll start beating those guys who use to kill you, or you didn't see. Hang in there, we all went through the same growing pains. There is no short cut, just work for it if it is what you really want and you'll get there.

Good Luck!  <S>

Agree, and it will only lead to new folks relying on the boost to get away and when they loose it they still have not learned how to survive and the result is predictable..

Grab a 190D or TA152 or Temp or 262 or P51 I mean you can literally hit X and escape from anyone. New players will die repeatedly regardless if they get a special boost or not. TBH, I'm already tired of players zooming away from me to begin with. Dieing a lot helps you learn how to play the game better. This isn't a "every one gets a trophy for participating" type of game. It's dog eat dog. I died for months to learn how to peform defensive manuevers correctly, and to learn how fly certain styles and certain planes. I still do die quite a bit. Stick to Fugitives advice, it will help you, instead of trying to change the game for everyone. Your plane also has a Wep key, P, to help you escape trouble, just like in real life.

They will do until they have learned to survive, a boost will maybe help them initially but it still doesnt fix their main issue, the lack of skills. Once they loose the boost they are at square one.

To many times new players are cought easily by other planes when they really have no business catching the plane  ...

There is a lot to learn about flying, air combat maneuvering, and energy management, before you can be successful flying in the late war main arena.

As others have mentioned, training will help. So will practice in the training or dueling arena. If you practice with better players you will lose all the time. That's normal. If you find another new player interested in improving then you can practice what you learn and win some fights.

All I see "Engine Boost" accomplishing is facilitating the good ole lawn dart.
Advice.
1. Pick a plane with decent visibility and performance. Stick with it.
2. Always check your 6. Even with no enemy dar in sector, get in the habit of always looking around. SA is one of the if not most important skill to learn in order to be successful.
3. Learn to read the clipboard map
4. Spend some time in the most commonly used AC in the MA. Learn their strengths and weaknesses. There is a good amount of information available pertaining to performance via the HTC website.
5. Find a trainer in the TA.

The best way to find a trainer in the TA is to request training in the Help and Training forum.

Extra engine power wont help in any way shape or form. Training would do the world of good, and an environment to thrive in.

In my case I didn't train, I had the determination and will to take 100+ deaths a week to learn by experience. When I put my time into being a squad CO, I often saw a new guy showing that amount of determination and offered help and encouragement, gave them a squad they called home, good times.
Perhaps the OP could start a squad and help people to improve their game. Any victory worked for is more meaningful than one won with the training wheels on, and once you get that adrenaline rush you'll go for more. By the way these types of players are often the best characters you'll find anywhere.
