Hey BigRat,

I saw the whole thing :O and think your "rat will be a good distraction" theory is correct.  VF-17 is a good crew :salute, but maybe you should come fly with 1841 FAA ;) where you will be respected :old: and your talents used to their upmost :joystick:.

BigRat;

We don't have any cookies but I can promise you there are plenty of biscuits – more than you can eat or want to eat.

Okay, 1841 FAA is not as well funded and supplied as VF-17.  And, yes, our Corsairs are borrowed and well used – "experienced" as we like to say in the FAA – but one significant difference in the Corsairs we use and those of VF-17 is ours actually fly from carriers.  So there won't be any of that "flare to land; squat to pee" here – if you get to land at all.  (No offence to any ladies in VF-17.)  :)

Another thing I can promise you besides biscuits is that you will be outnumbered in every engagement.  Even 5 or 6 Ju 87 loaded with a big old bomb are considered a threat to be taken seriously.  There is no slack time or safety in numbers in 1841.  Sometimes you feel like you're winning if you get two more turns in before being sent to the tower :rolleyes:.  You will feel like you have been through something when you actually get to land and tower-out occasionally.  Then there are those really rare moments where you feel like you have accomplished something when you get "1841 FAA" on the Squadron Kill Board when you only have two shooters :pray.  Can't experience those things in a bigger squad.

We could use you BigRat!  Give us a consideration even if you are just trying to negotiate a better contract or bigger hut on the beach with VF-17.

Big :salute to VF-17!

Hey MachNix, "bigger squadron"?? These days we're doing well to field 7-8 flyers. And everything you described sounds like you been flying with us. Why don't you join us, instead?

Personally, if I was BigRat I'd be questioning this whole "Corsair" thing...

I mean, Hellcats paved the way in the Pacific.  Perhaps he should come to a Hellcat squadron???

G3-MF would offer you crumbs off Rodent's plate...

I'm trying to figure out why I'm so popular lately, I try and be mean to everyone I meet, the red guys, and sometimes the green, but especially the orange.

Sorry Slip, but my home will always be in the F4U, just flown it for too long now.  Plus I can see out of it and it's faster.  Nothing against the hellcat, as I do well in them and they make up for their small weaknesses with toughness.  I actually think Branch prefers hellcats secretly, but I don't think he will admit it.  Oh yea Rodents don't share, just ask Rodent.

MachNix, not sure where you got the rumor about me thinking about leaving but keep up the flattery,  I found a new pillow on my bunk today :rock

Also how far off track has this thread gotten at his point?  :rofl

BigRat;

You are aggressive and show good airmanship.  Just wanted to make sure VF-17 was treating you right.  :rock

And just to get the thread back on track, let me ask this, "VF-17 has pillows?!  :eek:  Next thing you are going to tell me is the sheets are silk just like the chutes!  Which, I guess makes sense to have silk sheets since we are not supposed to use the silk for chutes in FSO.  There, back on track.

Enjoy your new pillow.  :D

i usually free fall til about 1500feet and THEN pop the chute. this gets me away from the action, no one can shoot me, and I can tower out without being accused of something. just saying!

It does make me wonder if you can shoot the little man falling before the chute is pulled.  If you'd even see him falling.  :headscratch:
