Landed Kills Multiplier
« on: July 19, 2016, 05:04:40 PM »
There could be some sort of incentive to land your plane other than the flat 1.25x earned perk multiplier.

if you are able to string together 5 kills in landed sorties without losing your plane (ditch, crash, bail, etc) then you could earn a sort of a perk multiplier that would multiply all kills you earn after becoming an ace (6th,7th,8th) kill with kill number 10 turning you into an acex2, that could further increase the multiplier (acex3,x4,etc). On death the chatbox could display the ace status and who killed you.

This would apply to all ingame deaths, (bomber,gv,fighter).

You would turn players back into more timid score monkeys than they are being accused of now for being timid HO and runners. Why not reward then with a 262 for every time they can land 2-3 5 kill strings in 2-3 hours? Or they get a popup menu of goodies equal to the price of a 262 that they can choose one of or an aggregate of?

You think thee is a lot of face shooting and running now......

Are you trying to make more timid players in the MA?  All you are doing is providing an incentive for the player to be timid, which I think might just be what you want.

This game is about combat, not running and avoiding fights to get perks.

and this will award those that are better at getting kills while avoiding death, running is a valid tactic.

How about take deaths out of scoring, that'll encourage the scoretards to stick around until they die.

You guys still don't get it. Its not about the score, its about not letting you (the enemy) get the kill. All the HO's, the running from an engagement and running to ack is about NOT letting the enemy win. Based on all I've read in real life combat, the pilots did what ever it took to survive and kill the opponent. This is a WWII Fighter Combat Game, get over it, accept it and move on.

IF you want 1v1 fights, go to the DA. Every one of you on this thread are excellent pilots (much much better than me, not that that is saying much). For me its all about winning the map, capturing bases, or defending bases as the need arises. While I don't mind "dying" I'm not going to up just to give you a kill, or stay around when my poor flying skills puts me at your mercy. If I am defending a base, I will HO if I deem it necessary, I will run to ack to reset the situation If I deem necessary, if the town is white flagged I will run supplies as I deem necessary, I will up a Wirbl as I deem necessary to defend a base.

Do any of you know how many "victories" you had last night?? Do any of you know how many points you made last night? I don't, and I dare say most of us don't. These features are some of the things that make Aces High unique, and in my mind the best on-line game out there.

For me its about the same things except I want to FIGHT for them! Thats one of the reason I don't buy this "go to the DA" crap, it's not the type of fighting I want. Shoot me down once and Im out of the fight for 10-15 minutes until I get back from the closest base. You don't care how much you die, fight me! You want to up a GV, no problem, but don't be ditching when I come in with bombs. Shoot and move, Fight me! Run to ack, why? you don't care if you die, and if you lose the fight you can reup faster than you can run to ack. On top of that you may actually get better at fighting! Running M3's, I hope they take that out. You want to save your base Fight me!

I don't either, but I can tell you the time I was on I had 2 good fights, all the rest of my encounters were pick attempts on me, gangs, HOs, and ack runners. I suppose 2 good fights in 6 hours isn't all that bad right?

Oh I get it Jimmy.  I don't mind dying, no big deal but I'm not going to give anyone a kill.  I'll fight to the death, your death.

Everyone plays this game different.  Everyone, no 2 are alike.

There are however only 2 types of players, those that complain about how others fight, and everyone else.  There are much fewer of the complainers, they are just really loud and never miss a chance to tell you once again, how you should play.

To answer the OP however, -1, I just don't see a need for it.
Wag more, bark less.

Everyone wants to land their plane, some don't care if it doesn't happen. Many will never admit how seriously important it is to their self esteem and expectations for playing this game to survive against the red guys and even land kills. Everyone wants to destroy whatever object the red icon is hovering over while knowing it represents a person with the same intention towards themselves. If it were all AI all the time, many would find another game while some would blossom as AI killers because AI do not count towards hurting your ego. Only another person can do that in your mind which has to be balanced by Hitech for the health of the community.

If you reward landing kills in such a way that it is super elevated into a community measurement of self esteem. You will promote the worst possible types of game play by people who need their self esteem elevated. Ch200 is full of them.

If you want "real" WWII fighter combat, go to FSO.  Quid pro quo, Clarice.
