Arma3- Antistasi Persistent World
« on: July 21, 2016, 02:30:18 PM »
So, with the stale gameplay in the LWA these days, I've been dinkin' around a bit with
"Arma 3", an in-depth tactical shooter which I'm certain the majority of guys in here
are familiar with.
Anyway, after having played a huge number of "scenarios" over the years, I was looking
for a "persistent world" type of mod/mission to play. And I discovered a -beauty-.
It's called "Antistasi" and you can find the info on it and the download here:

http://www.a3antistasi.com/mod

There's a link at the bottom of that page to the manual for it. (manual written for v1.1 I believe
and Antistasi now 1.4, but basics still apply)

If you're lookin' for a change of pace from usual "single mission" stuff in Arma3, I think you'll
have a blast with this thing!

Regards, Odd

Been playing Antistasi on and off for awhile. It's alot of fun when playing with a good crew. *Glares at Swoop and Vudu15*  :)  Hoping to get back into sometime soon.

Never heard about Antistasi before, when i did a server search after reading this i found a few running it, but they all had zero people.

I too am currently playing Exile on the new Tanoa map, the game mode and the new map is brilliant, but if you play it alot it can get get boring after anwhile. Its a bit too easy to get good gear and money imo.

I've been considering getting into Arma 3 for the WWII mods. I've been playing the RO series for awhile, and it's fun, but I want something more tactical where a game or mission doesn't last 30 minutes.

Antistasi, being a "persistent world" type of Arma3 "mission" doesn't "end" when one "dies" or
succeeds in completing "the mission", which is what 90 percent of user-made missions
entail.
While the learning curve for Antistasi has been pretty rough, thus far for me personally, I'm finding
it quite a rewarding experience and well worth the investment of time.
Once one takes the time to read through the manual for it (availlable on the Antistasi website)
and works though the mechanics of implementing the myriad of command and non-command
interactions with the game and the scenario, it unfolds into a beautifully constructed, and well
thought out "strategic masterpiece".
There's -way- more to this than the usual Arma type "sneak here, kill that, blowup that stuff"
fare.
How well/poorly the civilian populace views your little band of "rebels", your level of Nato support,
interactions with the abstracted Nato command, your access to various weaponry, and a myriad
of other variables are all blended together to create this "world".
This is my first attempt at playing in a persistent world type mission, so I can't compare it
with others. Having said that, this thing is a first rate thing of beauty once the user's gone
through the sometimes frustrating "how do I do that?" learning process.

Oh my bad I misunderstood. This thread is about the Antistasi. More commonly knows as the BfV (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz).

"Antistasi" is a hoop of fun and doesn't at all need to be multiplayer to be that way.  It's very in depth and the difficulty level is where it should be to keep it interesting.  After awhile though some of it gets old.  Occasionally it will glitch and an enemy will spawn right behind you... prone, ready to fire, and pointing at you lol.

Hi Tumor,
I've not seen that at all to date and I've got close to 100 hours invested in it.
Are you runnin' the 1.4 version?
  I got mine here: http://www.a3antistasi.com/mod

I usually get my mods/scenarios from Armaholic. But in doing a we search, I found
a link or two to earlier versions; one of which was still an Alpha.
This thing's addictive. I've been pullin' "all nighters" in it for the past week!

Glad to see your having a blast in Arma, Odd! I haven't had a chance to load it up onto one of our servers, due to working on a update for one of our current missions. I'm still looking forward to trying it out!

Na, doubt it.  Been nearly a year I think.  I'm currently in Arma3 Burnout.  It's my favorite fall back when I need a break from the buffoonery that goes on in AH.

Hi Delta,
It can be very unforgiving at times, so be prepared for a steep learning curve as you
begin it. I'm personally finding it akin to learning how to play chess without someone
to teach you.
The campaign part of it has proven to be somewhat frustrating, though it has provided us
with some adrenaline-inducing action.
Yesterday, three of us were on the server. We held only our "HQ", which consists of
the arsenal (unlocked items in unlimited supply), the inventory (captured gear and
weaponry), and our AI "Captain", who assigns us various "missions".
We'd decided to move on an AAF (the bad guys)  base. This entailed taking
out a couple of roadblocks enroute and then setting up into overwatch positions
looking into the base itself.
As we're still playing around with and learning the "NATO options", we decided an
air assault on the base might prove fun to watch. And indeed it was!
"Spending" fully half of our total "Nato points", we watched three or four
Nato troop-carrying helicopters, covered by an attack helo, rappel into the areas
surrounding the base and then start fighting their way into the base itself.
There was some horrific fighting going on between the AI troops and aircraft,
which we initially watched, then participated in directly. We finally managed to
take the base, then easily took the power station North of it. (don't shoot the
civilians, you'll lose "nato points".)
We also managed to repair three downed enemy helicopters (engineers and
took kits required) and... well...the gunship helo augered attempting to land
at HQ (where it would have become fully repaired), another was shot down by
an AAF fighter, and the third became irretrieveable when our glorious base
was subjected to the last of three "counterattacks" and our fuel truck
(all damaged/captured helos require refueling for some reason) was blown
to hell, along with the two guys attempting the retrieval.
We shrugged off the loss of the base, and began pouting over it like
10 year olds, but then decided we'd go attack some enemy outposts and
get our inventory back up to acceptable levels. (We'd used up all our AA
launchers and rockets during our initial attack and attempting to repel
the AAF air-based counterattacks.
What we -didn't- do was assign a few AI troops to guard our HQ.
A sniper got to within range of our AI Captain and took him out.
This forces the re-establishment of a HQ elsewhere on the map, and
pretty much completely takes away the vast majority of the gear
in the inventory crate (captured weaponry). We did however get to
keep our "unlocked" stuff.
So... we're back at square one in the main. D'oh!
Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men. Heheehehe!

Best, Odd
