"Zig-zag" button for fleet evasive maneuvers
« on: July 25, 2016, 04:55:25 PM »
Press of a button to put task group (TG) into random zig-zag pattern for a set amount of time (say 1 minute), before it resumes the plotted course. To make it easily accessible, perhaps make it a mapboard item. Right-click on the TG, and select "Evade". That way, any player could do it without having to go through assuming command. Maybe make it so that, if there IS a player controlling the TG, the function is disabled for all others. Of course, during the evasive zig-zagging, taking off or landing is challenging to say the least, and it would also throw off gunnery. There's always a trade off.

I don't see the need, it's 3 clicks to turn a carrier as is now?? Might help if nobody is watching it but that's kind of the point of having someone in command of it.

While I see the need, people who haven't learned to use a rudder pedal would howl like crazy because they couldn't take off..

True, but that's a real-life consequence of trying to launch from a carrier under attack. Perhaps an audible alarm could be added to alert those aboard the CV that it has begun an evasive maneuver.
