Well this ups the ante a bit. Now to make an impression, (on the crowd not the ground,) its gotta be no chute no cardboard box pile no net. Maybe a kiddie pool? Pair of Air Jordans?

Why do mountaineers do what they do? As the English mountaineer George Mallory answered why he wanted to risk his life (which he lost) in climbing Mount Everest: "Because it's there".

They do it because they don't have to go to work and pay bills like the rest of us.

Let's keep it real they are clowns who contribute nothing to society.

Climbing Everest is the most useless thing to do.

They are like kids who climb trees, and don't want to grow up.

Zach is on to something.

There's a reason why filthy rich rock stars and money traders go back to college. It has nothing to do with money. David Lee Roth was filthy rich when he was riding around in the back of ambulances doing his paramedic training. Because for some people, getting rich and not contributing to society in a real, tangible, practical way is just as empty as not contributing to society. Of course it helps being rich enough to afford a shrink to point out to them the reasons for their drug abuse and depression when one lacks the insitefullness to recognize the remedy themselves.

By the way I've been up for at least 24 hours and I'm drinking. So whatever. I may be drunk but at least I'm not
I forget how the rest of that goes.

The irony is overwhelming...

what that's supposed to mean?

Short Answer :
a literary technique, originally used in Greek tragedy, by which the full significance of a character's words or actions are clear to the audience or reader although unknown to the character

Also note: Among the the many "things" that fall from the sky, the top of the list is held by FOOLS  :devil

Was pretty cool to watch the build up to this event and now the execution. Not that difficult to do but requires a lot of courage.

I heard on the grape vine that Redbull sponsor him for other things but refused for this idea because they thought it was stupid and he would die. Guess not.

This to me was a ballsy publicity stunt and only will achieve a brief moment of fame for the guy. Wingsuit proximity flying is still the holy grail of insane things to do with gravity as far as I am concerned.

Wonder what G's a stunt like that pulls once he hits the net

Well, it was stated that he was travelling at 120 mph.  Looking at the video, his deceleration time was probably on the order of one second.  That works out to be a little over 5 g's.

It isn't the fall - it is the STOP that kills you.   There are people who have actually SURVIVED a fall from a plane without a parachute before - most times it is because they hit deep soft snow - check these out:
