Ancient pilot achievement?

Not sure if that is exactly the wording, but achieved something like this last night. I was busy and didn't get but a quick glance at it on text.

Anyone know what it is for, besides being  :old:   :devil

Think you got "The Order of the Ancient Aviator" achievement, which is for flying 1000 hours.

The dumb thing about that though, is that you never have to leave the ground to get it.   It just totals your sortie time, even field guns IIRC.

And thats the problem with achievements. Too many playe4rs are playing for
stars and scores and not for base taking... and yes I know, most will consider this a troll
but oh well  :airplane:

on the contrary there a plenty of achievements that get you flying different planes, historical or country specific.  It would suck if everyone just took the best plane for the job everytime.

Base taking has to be one of the more mundane aspects of gameplay.

Ding ding ding!!!  Correct me if I am wrong.  Base take was introduced as the engine that was to drive the air combat.  Some dozen years later all I see is a few folks in a virtual tug of war, with one end of the rope usually heavily weighted.

I have heard a number of differing ideas to improve upon the "mundane".  One such idea revolved around making the capture of a flag to signal and timed response, calling for the original flag owner to reclaim the flag.  This will require the takers to also become defenders, instead of sprouting off to another field NOE or tucked away below the decks of a Carrier.
