Thanks Skuzzy and Bizman. I think my texture size is set too high. I'll try these things tonight and then post screen shot and dxdag.

A needed change.   Glad to see them gone, frankly.

I understand the angst of people that frequented those arenas but I rarely did.
I really don't care whether they return or not !

Mid-war used to be fun, it had the best planet set match up of any of the arenas.

It did have a great plane set, and wasn't all mucked up with so many p-fifty-runs and run-ninety doras. That's why the Monday night madness was so fun.

A few years ago when there was 20-30 in MW all the time, it was awesome.

Well, when numbers come back maybe it will, too.

I have been playing for about 2 years now and spent most of that time in MW. It was a great place to learn the game from a great bunch of very helpful people under very competitive conditions. My hope is that it will be back in AH III.  At least, perhaps, a combination of MW & EW. For now I am flying in LW and the Beta.

BTW,  AH III is awesome!    <S> HiTech.

I also have "power supply constraints"  (stoopid HP computer with proprietary MB connections).  I have this ordered:
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-6163-KR
400W PSU, performance slightly better than the GTX970, $260US.  Will report back later in the week.
I have the same problem, proprietary motherboard, only the one 320 watt power supply available with the special non standard motherboard connectors and cables.  Would love to replace the whole thing, but that isn't going to happen.

I finally did bite the bullet and ordered a evga750ti SC that gets its power from the PCI bus, needs no PS connector and has a 55-60 watt draw.  Thanks to skuzzys post suggestion to check the  9800 vs 750  performance using their 9800 as the benchmark I will see what happens.  Will definitely keep away from the big box brands HP/compaq etc.  with all the special space saving features meaning you cannot buy off the shelf peripheral upgrades.  Wish I would have kept my old S100 bus Imsai 8080.
