D-Day themed T-Shirt for a contest
« on: August 23, 2016, 08:26:50 PM »
Every now and then I enter t-shirt designs into Woot.com’s weekly derby.  Each week, the contest has a different theme.  The theme for this Thursday is, “Star Gazing - look to the sky and beyond for your inspiration. Designs do not have to be a night sky and constellations.”

Here is my design so far, the title is “D-Day”. It may be pretty out of place, as the designs on this site are usually pretty ‘cute’.  What do you think?

It'd make a good stereotypical boy's shirt

I think it looks great! I take it no one on that site will get the aircraft markings, so you're screwed, but I'd wear it!

Hell yeah! I'd take one in XXL!

You could change the national marking to be British to appeal to a larger market.

Thanks for the input.  It is not getting any votes.  It is probably too obscure and not cute enough for the Woot.com crowd. After 60 days I can submit it elsewhere.
I did enjoy trying a couple of new effects while designing this. The distressed look on the insignia and strips is taken from photograph of wood grain, and the distress in the numbers is taken from a photo of the concrete in my sidewalk.  So I at least learned some new techniques.

I think it's a nice piece. Good work. I'd proudly wear it.  :salute
