Mouse as Primary Question
« on: August 26, 2016, 04:02:43 PM »
Hello,

Just checking out the pre-release.  Wow! Very impressive.  :aok

One question though. I used the setting to import the values from AHII.  I use my mouse for controlling the plane, i.e. I dont have a joystick or rudder setup.  It seems to have inverted one of my settings on the stick.  When I pull back on the stick (via mouse) the plane pitches down and vice versa.

How do I switch that around?

Thanks,  :salute

Just as AH2 I can see the X and Y axis is chosen via the menu: Options->Controls->Map Controller.

How can I invert it so that when I push the stick forward (via pitch or Y-Axis) the plane goes down and vice-versa.

When in the "controls" section, and the "mouse" being selected, click on the "ADVANCED" section to swing out the sliders. Click the X or Y axis.... which ever you wish to switch and on the swing out, click on the "Invert" box.

Fugitive thanks for posting that.  I actually tried that before posting.

I went ahead and did it again.  Even exited the game but it did not change, i.e. when I push mouse\stick forward the plane goes up.  I also tried recalibrating the Y-Axis (and X-Axis for good measure).  Still no go.

I was wondering if that is how WWII planes worked?  I'm not a real pilot and would not know.  I thought that when you pull BACK on the stick the plane pitches up and when you push FORWARD the plane pitches down.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.  :salute

If in Command mode, the the settings are in Options/Preferences/View options.

This sets the mouse sensitivity and can invert axis.

If direct control mode, the the regular control settings sets the direction and sensitivity .

Sorry to ask such dumb questions:

1. What is the difference between Direct Mode and Control Mode?

2. How do I switch between them?

Thanks.

I am making good progress in AH3 outside this.  AH3 looks awesome!

In command mode you will see a circle that acts like a mouse point, simply move the circle where you wish to fly, and the plane will autopilot to point its nose at your circle.

In direct mode you are flying the plane directly in that your mouse controls the control surfaces.

The functions are Global/Mouse Control Hold Down and Global/Mouse Control Toggle.
Normally you would map the right mouse button to Mouse Control Hold Down.

The default mappings are ; and shift ;

Is it intentional that when you are in Direct Mode you cannot use the mouse to make changes to clipboard menu items?

I noticed that if you switch back to Command Mode ( via shift ; ) you can then once again press the single quote so the mouse can interact with the clipboard menu.
