The Oregon Trail (Game)
« on: September 15, 2016, 08:35:20 PM »
Did anyone else play this game in school during the 80s?

There is a table top version of it now but I've been unable to find it in stock yet so I keep checking Target's website everyday hoping to get one.

I played it in junior high back in the 70's, on a teletype machine over a dial-up modem where you had to cradle the phone handset in the modem.
My Current Rig:
GigaByte GA-X99-UD4 Mobo w/ 16Gb RAM
Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0

My family and I also played that on an Apple II when I was a kid. I didn't like it though because it was difficult and I kept passing my own grave. :cry

I just tried it for the first time ever and a) drowned my wife and my younger one in the first river and b) got my older daughter and her boyfriend killed because of health issues before the first stop. Not nice at all, it's a bad mood game if you name your passengers according to your loved ones. Hint: Name them after terrorists and chuckle when they die!

Whey would you waste any coin paying the ferry man when you can just chink up the cracks in your wagon and let a couple family members drown on the way across?  Odell Lake was pretty gnarly too.
To each their pwn.
