Unsafe landing in town
« on: September 20, 2016, 05:13:29 PM »
Yesterday I drove my tank to the map room in town, stopped and exited. I got a you crashed message even though I had stopped on the brick pavement. Are we not able to get safe landings in town?

I spawned a 262 at an airfield.  It was one of the taxiway spawns.  I didn't start engines or move the jet, when I hangared I got a ditch with loss of perks.  Don't hardly seem right ya know!

Which airfield and spawn point?

Aircraft should spawn to the runway or hanger.

On some of the Huge Airfields you wont actually spawn to the runway but next to it. I remember seeing HiTech post about it somewhere.

I hadn't considered this, i'll either put a safe pad on them or move them to a runway.

That is what so many people don't know after years of playing ah2 where you always spawn on a runway.  Some ah3 spawns are not on the runway.

Also note the small airport ends of the runway may not be a safe tower-out position.  I think it is just the big pad end of the runway but not sure.

I don't mind not spawning on a runway but I do think the spot you spawn onto should be safe to tower from without it being a ditch.

I just got a ditch when ending sortie on the taxiway in the TA. Is towering out on the taxiway now not a successful landing?

I have film and screen shot if needed.

Some of the aircraft spawns (directional) at the bases set you up to takeoff in way you hit a gun position on takeoff, or some have you hitting a barracks or hanger. If I select "NW" I would assume it was a standard direction for takeoff and no obstructions would be in the way. That is not always the case. :headscratch:

On the huge airfield, some of the spawns will spawn you, sort of, next to the runway and not directly on it. It is designed that way.
