If you get the pop and lugging in as the base for taxiing and not to far off from the AH3 defaults, that will be pretty close for the average sound systems of the majority in this game. As for tanks, if they are not my side's sounds, I'm more worried about which end the AP round is about to screw me. I wouldn't know a tiger tank from an earth mover. :lol

Tiger tanks sound scary.

You should know the sound of an M3 (or M16). The M4A3-75 is the most iconic tank in history, at least from the American perspective. 53 countries have operated them, if you include captured versions in Germany. V12s vs the V8 (or 30-cylinder Multibank in the Firefly) and the Russian Diesels. They're all fairly distinctive sounds. No real way to discern a Panzer F from the H, or Flak, or Wirb, or Panther for that matter, until you see one. Panther tracks are different, but you really need to get closer to hear them well.

Well, okay. The old sound packs won't work anymore, so everything has to be built again. The sounds for guns can work, the alerts, things like that. The engines for the airplanes and vehicles will need a little more care. I have upgraded my M3 to work in the game, but the surfaces of the terrain actually modifies the sound of the halftrack tread, so I know there will be other surprises.

Bustr pointed out that the lower end of rpm could use more interest, which is something I was planning on. I think you will like the bombers for the same reason. I think the FMOD engine will even allow a little random change there, but I haven't played with it to see if it really is possible. I'm talking about the coughing, sputtering as the engine starts up, or if you leave it in low throttle, etc.

My biggest interest is in the external sounds. I don't know how far the airplanes can even be heard, but I am anxious to push the boundaries.

Btw Chalenge, Ranges on engines are have a hard coded max, I don't remember what it is, but you can set sound profiles shorter then the max, but longer is not allowed for game play reasons.

Is going to F5/F8 mode the same as using external sounds? or should I make a recording of someone else in the vehicle I want to test?

Does F8 pan for you? Mine only works in the film viewer now not in game.

In the main arena and in film viewer it works, but not in the TA, or offline.

That's odd.

I reported it in the beta, maybe it wasn't reproduced.

Any plane but yours is considered external. If it is your plane it is internal.

Alright cool. Slow, but steady progress. I got detoured by the M4. Once I started working on it I just found more and more things to add.

The attenuation on pitch doesn't work so well for guns, unless I missed something. I thought I might read through the manual, but it seems like cheating myself out of too much fun playing.

I started watching a few films with custom sounds loaded. It really changes the atmosphere.
