Land mode on 8" CV guns
« on: September 22, 2016, 04:10:43 PM »
On the most part, this works fine.  I noticed though if you are shooting at a shore battery, using the w/s key to increase/decrease distance there is a region where your distance will jump from say 12.3 to 13.1 with one quick hit on the w key (there is no in between).  In essence, you can never hit the shore battery in that mode at times.  Say 12.3 falls just short and 13.1 is too long.   It's as if it's reading the bottom of the hill on the backside of the shore battery when it jumps to the longer range and falls just short at the lower range.  There is no middle range adjustment with a tap of the w or s key between say 12.3 and 13.1 in this example.  I hope this makes sense.

Noticed the same thing today using Sea Mode at close range.

Also during Sea Mode it wasn't pointing my head anywhere close to the same direction as the guns.

The sea mode has never worked closer than 3.5 or so.  You have to shoot from manual (Q) mode at closer range.  As far as looking in the direction desired, point the guns towards target, then hit ctrl+q, the yellow target grid will be close to your target (you may need to move the mouse to move the grey grid scale near the yellow grid).  Use the a and d keys to move the yellow grid left or right and the w and s keys for further away or closer.  Generally, if you put the bottom of the lateral yellow grid lines at the waterline of the CV, you will be very close to the distance away from the CV for range.

Or you can use your joystick. I tend to click the map at the approximate location of the enemy, and then adjust the brackets and then by ranging fire.
