Stick Suggestion - Moving On From MS SW2
« on: September 26, 2016, 08:48:40 AM »
Well, my Sidewinder hat switch has moved on to the great beyond.   Even assuming I could fix it I am not sure I will bother.   It's a tough call.   Have had this thing for over a decade and it was a good one.

Anyone care to suggest what I would find as a decent transition from the Sidewinder?   I have never found a stick out there that felt right to me.   Your input is appreciated in advance.

I've heard many Sidewinder users have found the Thrustmaster T.16000M quite satisfying. There's a brand new HOTAS version coming, too, the T.16000M FCS.

You can replace the switches V. They are readily available. I had a few of those boards but sent them already to AH players. I could fix it for you if you don't mind the delay in posting to Europe and back. That board plugs in. You just need a trick to get the socket up the tube.

How much you reckon that will cost?

Worth a try.

You might consider TrackIR and away with the need for the hat switch.

Well if you can carefully take the board out (or get someone handy to help you) - I can talk you through that by the way - then the postage costs will be very low because the board is very small and light. Just pop it in a well-protected Jiffy bag. I'll need the whole board, hat switch too because sometimes they wear. I've got the replacement switches already and an MS Sidewinder mainboard here to test it before shipping it back. My work hours are free to friends.

TM16000 it's amazingly accurate for flight, and making tiny adjustments in your tanks barrel for long distance tanking it's awesome!  $60.         elfy

The Gladiator sure looks nice. However, compared to the T16000M it's double the price. At least at Amazon, the TM is $49.99 and the Gladiator $99.99. If yours went out of calibration every four months you might have got a lemon. I haven't heard complaints from the half a dozen users I personally know, neither have I had issues with mine. Might also be a hand issue, the users I know might have mellowed due to aging.
