Yak 50 Deadstick
« on: September 27, 2016, 11:25:07 PM »
An oldie but goodie - Yak 50 engine loss and deadstick landing.  The GoPro is mounted on the pilot's helmet so you get a sense of how he's finding a place to set down.

Luckily for him the area wasn't capped.

Wonder if he would of made it gear down, or was the ground too soggy for that?

Right call...gear up....soft soil, and gear sticking =Cartwheel or flip.

Thought he might grab some of those straight roads but with English Hedgerows being what they are.....
Most importantly he remembered the #1 rule of ditching....never ever stall!

Can't complain if you can walk away from it.

I was always lucky, all 4 power losses I had occurred over an airport......one of 'em was at 75' after takeoff.....but got to a runway each time.
