Seems many Windows 10 updates reset various settings back to operating system defaults.  Operating system defaults are usually altered when the OS was being installed and become the system defaults.

Unfortunately, if the system default reverts back to the OS default, it can cause problems.

This is, somewhat, speculative on my part as I only have one machine I have noted it happening on.

We do know network share settings are being reset to defaults, depending on the update.  We have had to reset those, twice so far, since they were set.

I don't understand the problem with both cables attached as i have functioned fine for almost a year with both connected. The software update is what initiated the problem, I hadn't been tinkering around with any hardware.

If you think about it, you should wonder how it ever could work. So you had an analog cable and a digital cable connected. Theoretically one might think that the digital one would be preferred because it's more advanced technology. Then again, the early stages of boot are pretty ancient graphically, so the analog might be the logical choice there. At what stage would you change the signal path during the startup process?

This reminds me of the Service Pack 3 for XP issue on some HP computers. Initially they had been designed using an Intel processor. Then they made another reference system for AMD processors and simply added the AMD CPU code over the Intel one. Windows simply omitted the code that didn't apply, until: SP3 tried to start every cpu code in the system. Blue screen. A patch was published which basically simply removed the Intel code in Safe Mode.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.
