My wife and I went to an estate auction today. I did warn her in advance that the reason I wanted to go to this auction is they listed “Aviation memorabilia” in the online ad… (In my defense, I told her that after the auction, I would take her out to lunch, and then clothes shipping in Toledo.)
At the auction I picked up these two items. An unknown aircraft rudder, and a set of 20 ribs from an from an unknown aircraft wing. I have to tell you that these were the most inexpensive aircraft items that I have ever purchased!... There were no other bidders who were seriously interested in these parts. In fact, at one point, I was looking at the rudder and an elderly lady, (Think Grandma Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies) asked me, “Is that the tail from an airplane?” When I responded, “Yes it is”, she replied, “Why on earth would anyone have one of those?” When I said, “I already have one, And, I’m hoping to get this one too!”… …She pursed her lips and gave me the long hard look that said, "That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard"…
Don’t ask me how I know that look, but believe me, I do!

Anyways, the rudder is metal framed and fabric covered, 51.5 inches tall, 20 inches wide without the crudely added trim tab, and 4 inches thick. Any ideas what it may be from?
