It's been fun supporting this project with IT software.

Pity I wont be able to see one or sit in a cock pit since I doubt I'll be going back to work. Ive seen 737s lined up by the dozen at terminals. This plane does nothing but make money for airlines. It can basically do the same thing as the 757 for cheaper, at least the 800s and 900s. The new Max will be the last chapter in the most successful passenger jet design ever.

I love to fly but hate being a passenger.

Wife and I vacation in the San Juan islands every other year or so, always a 737 there and back.  Seeing what the air frame can actually take helps reassure me.

Its not really the flying i dont like, its the takeoff, landing.. and turbulence..  the rest is great.   I usually get drunk, it helps.

I once dated a gal that worked as an ATC.
I am now fearful when within controlled airspace around major cities after listening to some of the stories she shared.

The scariest are probably the ground vehicles getting lost and driving around taxiways and runways. A major airport is a huge dynamic operation with literally dozens of airplanes landing and taking off while many more are taxi'ing and hundreds of support, security, police, maintenance, vehicles having to drive on the tarmac as well as the airplanes. Man its like bumper cars with airplanes out there it can be so active. Im actually amazed more doesnt happen then does.

I really do see a fully automated air transport system sometime in the future. We'll have one on the roads too one day. The airplanes themselves have become so dependable and high tech the weak link is really the human. But I think the ENTIRE airport operation will one day be automated.

All that work and still the same old draggy, noisy nose section (and windscreens).

Now, none of my multi-bubbas have gotten to the P-8 yet, but I've never heard any complaints about the 737 nose, and clearly it works well...

Mil pilots probably won't know the difference but one of the very first things I heard when I started up in the airline biz was that the 737s are known for having a cramped and noisy cockpit.  Even "normal" carry-on sized bags won't fit, need a smallish 22" bag to jumpseat on a 737 apparently.

The only "Complaint" I've heard of flying 737's is my buddy that transitioned from DC-9s (MD-9) to 737s. The cockpit was much more spacious for a pile-it in the MD9 compared to the 737. In his words...'performance wise between the two jets was like comparing a Volkswagen air-cooled engine to a Porsche engine" regarding thrust. ;)

lol this is true. I'm just jealous of the cushioned seats... but I guess when most guys have only experience a T-6 and a King Air, the P-8 is gonna look like a Ferrari no matter what lol.

The new-car smell will make up for a lot, and I'm sure it'll be more comfortable than a P-3.

Flying a P3 is like driving a Uhaul truck with no reclining seat....3000 miles.

From what I've heard, it's NOT a fun community right now. I don't have any first-hand experience, but from the EP-3 guys I know, the P-8s are trying WAY too hard to justify themselves, and it's a bit toxic to be around :(
