MickDono, does the Captain Fantastic pic mean you're a StevieG or a Watford supporter?

Please do not ask this question again.

The picture is actually MickyD, he plays AH in between writing songs and washing his wigs.

Funny but now that you mention it I think 4/5 of our FSO Hurri II pilots got pilot wounded attacking JU-88s in FSO.  Seems a bit high, so might be worth looking at.   Just sayin'.

To reiterate: this is an observation and not a complaint.

- If I've had a bad run of luck, and no one else is experiencing this, no prob - carry on.
- If others are also seeing a spike in PW and that is by design, I'll live with it.
- If others are are also seeing a spike in PW and it's not by design, well...

.30:s are really nasty when it comes to PW, i guess it's due to a higher rate of fire than .50:s. Going Head on against a bomber in a Spit I (or Hurri I) and bomber go boom every time...

the idea that .30 caliber can penetrate and do PW at 50mm armored windshields is plain stupid -are they cumulative like a wooddonut hacking its way into a tree ?

True, but that isn't anything new. Not even an IL-2 can take more than a few hits by .30:s to the cockpit area, even if the fire is coming from directly ahead of the plane..

They do seem to come in waves. For me, I keep getting both ailerons shot off.

Same here.  It was a rare occurrence in ah2 but seems more common now.  Makes for some interesting landings.

Yes, very interesting...

My most famous landing was after a bomb run on a Vbase (years ago).  I lost both outer wingtips at the same time, but was fast enough to maintain flight. I was able to successfully crash land on a CV using rudder only....  I one a bet, and my squaddie was to post a picture of him in a ballerina outfit complete with tutu...  Bet one, payment still pending....

This is my flying outfit. I get a better feel of the rudder pedals in slippers.

Maybe the front armor is behind the pilot instead of in front of him?
