Crash to Desktop after latest Update
« on: October 27, 2016, 06:15:14 PM »
System froze at about 27 minutes into AH film after I shot down a bomber.  I had to Task Manger out to reboot system.  When I got back, a little late, I was in an unopened chute.

Film Attached.
DiagDX attached.

I maintained my bearings.  I was hoping to get at the lancasters after attacking the TU's agai, even with a pilot wound.

Screen Freeze at 1655 local.  (All times are Arizona standard time>)
I tried the alt tab, got a white screen.
I ctrl alt del.
System up at about 1659.
Back in game.
Zone Alarm up at 1659.
Action video capture up at 1659.
Game up at 1700.
Joystick up at 1700.
TS speak tried to up at 1700.  Five attempts fail to bring it back up.
Was back in game until I crashed while being chased by Spit. :)
Began reporting problem.
Name of film is from keystrokes trying to communicate after my crash :).

Is this with the DX9 or DX11 version of the game?

Also had game freeze, after about one hour of play, requiring Task Manager to close.  I had just lifted off and was not using voice comm or hearing any voice comms.  This was with the DX11 version.  No dump file.  Did dump files get turned off with the latest patch?

Hope this helps

DX 11

Game also froze a third time at 1752 27 Oct Arizona time.  Ctrl Alt Del at 1800.  System back up at 1803.  Action Video up at 1803.  DX Diag done at 1804 (Dxdiag3).  TS would not come up.  Back in game at 1805.  Flight time had elapsed. I also have discovered I have 11 DMP files from the 25th that were created while flying off line.  Tried to attach them but they exceeded file size.

Zip the dump files.  They compress well and are very helpful, if they are from the current version of Aces High (check the dates of the files).

I have 11 dmp files from the 25th, one on the 26th and the attached file from the 27th.  If the older ones are of value let me know, otherwise I will erase them.

Thanks.   :aok

They are only good for the version that generated them.  You can remove the old ones.

Problem found and solved.  I crashed again, then went off line, renamed the Aces High folder and downloaded the game again.  Went on line, first flight lasted just a little over 7 minutes.  Logged off and thought, what has changed on my computer that may cause this.

I recently downloaded the free paint program.  It, the paint program, had issues with action video/screen capture program according to the Paint program people.  I had sent them a crash report.

I uninstalled the paint program and my crashes have stopped. :x

Interesting. Which paint program was it and which video capture program? I'm asking this because one day a customer might have the same issue. Thanks.
