This B-25H was part of the 38th Bomb Group which was deployed in the Pacific from 1942 until the end of the war. From 1943 they were equipped with B-25 Mitchells and flew in the South West Pacific region where they attacked Japanese installations and airfields, often at very low level. The group's four squadrons decorated the noses of their aircraft with animal head designs, the 71st BS used a wolf head, the 405th BS a dragon head, the 823rd BS a tiger head and the 822nd, as represented in this skin, a black panther head.
