If you are at near sea level and you cannot clear object at end of runway on auto take off its to close and  should be removed.  I don't care what the load out is. :old:

Hmmm....   Good point.  If we are going to have "auto takeoff", it probably ought to work in all situations.  Imagine a newbie selecting "auto takeoff" and dying repeatedly, thinking "WTF????"

I can't fault HT for adding a little challenge. Small fields simulate makeshift frontline bases that would've had real life challenges in combat. You can't always mow down twelve thousand feet of runway.

Then make it a tree not a stupid building.

Before you comment with "use flaps" or "just launch the other way".....think about new players.....auto takeoff should get them in the air and off the field without hitting anything unless a base is designed in a gulch.

I think I remember that warbirds auto takeoff allowed you to pass through objects until you were properly in the air.

That building is a fighter hanger. The problem with which way it's aimed has to do with the AH2 to AH3 conversion program making the choice of which end points where. The new terrain I'm currently populating with fields, I'm making sure that building is not on the more favorable end for taking off. I doubt the people who have to touch up after the terrain conversion to AH3 wanted to visit every single small field. Maybe you can get Waffle to move that hanger over by Ord1 in the open grass patch if you look on the small airfield map for the location. but, that may mean all terrains on the HOST will have to have build run on them to update the modified object.

It's never as simple as ginning up a mob in the forums.

In planes where i can't see around the nose, I use f3 and f8 to get a look out front before rolling now just to look out for the wtf building. If I'm going that way, I use flaps. I haven't hit it since I learned about it the hard way.

Good points about noobs though.

Last night I watched someone run their 262 into it, I believe now the bombers get launched on pavement and the fighters get the grass. Maybe its hard to do but it would be nice if the pilot could pick which surface or failing that make it so the 2 jets and rocket got the pavement like the bombers.

This is 100% correct.

Although that seems correct, there's plenty of runways where you just can't take off any plane you want into any direction. A gulch is just one example. There's seaside fields low on the beach with cliffs on the mainland side. There's downhill runways ending at a slope, the other way round they're uphill with a mountain at the end. There's runways too short for bombers or jets. And there's CV's... Although I've seen people land a Lancaster on a CV, I've witnessed many more people crash into the sea trying to take a heavy attack plane off. Auto takeoff isn't a magic trick to change the laws of physics.
