Bombers

I suppose (don't really know) the armament differences among the WWII bombers reflected their mission.  The Americans bombed in the day and therefore they needed decent armor and heavy guns.  The Brits bombed at night and needed decent armor, but lighter guns.

What sort of armament did the German heavy bombers carry?  I love the JU-88, but man, you can't defend yourself.  Heck, you can't even come in with altitude!  I've never gotten one beyond 22k and it took forever to get there.

We have the F4u-1c even though a limited number saw action.  I have no problems with the chog being included in the AH plane set.  But, didn't the Germans and Japanese have bombers which were 1) late war and limited in production and 2) heavily armed?

Were there no heavy German/Japanese bombers which carried 20mm?  

I'll bet they were manufactured near the end of the war, but were limited in number.

Pyro, can we expect any representatives from the above plane classes in the near (not distant) future?

You did have one misconception about British bomber armament.  The used the .303s because they lacked a heavy machine gun.  The didn't get a workable turret with 20mm Hispanos until mid-1945. They wanted to buy our 50 cals, but there weren't enough of them. That's wy only a few hundred Lancs got the tail turret we have in AH.

   Another point that could be made is that our JU 88 (ya I love it too)could have a heaver defensive arament than it curentaly does, MG 131's were used insted of the MG 81 in some of the defensive positions(13mm as apposed to 7.9mm). Also some were fitted with a 20mm MGFF which was fixed to fire forward and be sighted by the piolet. I would realy love to see this added, and or a MG 131 whear the MG 81 is now that fires forward for the piolet. This is the best handeling Buff in the game curentaly it would be nice to have the abality to throw some 20 mm at the bad guyes
