Adjusting Cockpit Views?
« on: November 16, 2016, 03:47:12 PM »
Hello again Gentlemen,
I have been flying in AH3 for the first week with no issues.   However, the most important aspect of flight is the views, and recently the stock head position settings for almost all the aircraft has been changed from being set farther back in the seat, to now being pushed against the gunsight/windscreen.  Though I do like the much more confined realism,  Being pushed up against the wind screen no longer allows you to view above the top strut of the wind screen itself.  This is especially bad in the spitfire models, (my fighter of choice.)   This is a critical area for monitoring enemies in front of you, and with this blind spot, it is harder to keep track of an enemy aircraft.   I tried zooming out with the arrow keys, but with little improvements.  Any ideas how else I can adjust my head settings?  I know in AH2 you could use your mouse to control head movements, but in AH3, the mouse no longer seems to control head movement.

First, AH3 has a much closer FOV as default than AH2. When you first start the game in the video setting area, you can adjust the FOV. Default in AH3 is 80, AH2 was 106. If you were use to the AH2 view that might be enough to make your views better.

Second you can adjust and save every view in the game. Adjust with the arrows and the page up and page down keys to get the view you like and save it by hitting F10.

You can also use a mouse view. I believe it is in the controls section of the game and your mouse will pan your view around only when you do not have the clipboard open.

I mapped a button on my throttle to move into the gun sight when firing. It works for me. Been using zoom more lately so I may end up with a zoom button pretty soon. :airplane:

Actually, the default FOV is 90.  It was changed a few patches after the full release.

Views, the most important aspect of game.
log gui, video choice, see FOV options. as mentioned. you will prolly select 90 to 110. I'm flying spit5 when I fly, right now. @95
use a hi hat for views, I have a 4 button version gets me 8 views, I use a separate button for up and up back. Using these views in conjunction with the head position move/save options will get you customized positions when you select a view.
gunnery zoom, this is a combination of forward view, default zoom and move head forward.

Ultimately it depends on your equipment and what you have to work with. But know you can customize the watermelon out of views in AH, just need to know availability of options. I fly/shoot/talk with right hand, I view/throttle/fly with left hand, rudder/brake with feet.
