Sorry what is bloatware?
Would the nvidia 9800gtx graphics card be sufficient. Is my cpu able to power it?

Sorry.  Bloatware are programs loaded on a computer which the user has no need for.  The take up resources (storage, memory, video...).  OEM's are notorious (HP and Dell are among the worse) for loading up many applications on a computer.  Example:  If you look at the Windows task manager and the count of background processes.  It is not unusual for an HP computer to have up to 80 background processes, where the normal OS has only about 35.

The 9800GTX card is a baseline minimum performance card to run Aces High III. It is not a card we recommend.  It can be used as a comparison to whatever card you have, or are planning to purchase.  Keeping in mind, it is a baseline performance card.  This means is will run the game, but every graphic option has to be disabled along with minimizing the texture size as well.

Swampy, by taking a look at your specs there's a couple of things to consider when improving the video performance.

The first one is size. A ruler is your friend, measure how much space you have both for length and thickness. High end video cards can be 30 cm/12" long and even 3 card slots thick plus the air intake space needed below them.

The second one is power. Your rig has a 300 watt power supply which means you can't consider high end cards using that one. Hopefully your HP uses a standard size power supply with standard wiring which would allow you to upgrade your power supply, too. IIRC they're attached both with the four backplate screws and a latch inside the case - the space between the latch and the back plate being just one mm too short for a standard PSU! I've managed to omit the latch, it gives in enough.

There's decent video cards on the market that are both small sized and modest in their power usage. Some don't even have an external power connector. But if your power supply has a video card power cable, it gives you more options to choose from. Here's some alternatives for low powered/small sized systems: http://www.xtremegaminerd.com/best-budget-entry-level-graphics-cards/. Notice that they won't make your system the best AH3 rig ever, but they'd definitely allow for mostly playable frame rates using default settings.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Might be worth considering building your own if you have the interest.  I recently did so and enjoyed it.  Good luck and hope to see you back in!

If you end up building your own, use some compilation tool like pcpartpicker and send the sketch here for evaluation. Shopping for parts will be much easier with a fine honed list.

[Edit] Rather than exactly "here", post it in the "Hardware and Software" forum.

I do not think 4GB of system RAM is enough with Windows 10.  I would go 8GB, as a minimum.

The GTX 1050 is an okay video card.  You might have to tweak down some of the graphic settings, but overall not a bad card.

Hi Skuzzy,
ok ill change the  RAM to 8GB 2133MHz crucial DDR4, but what card would you recommend. I dont really want to have to turn down graphic settings...........Apart from being a crap shot,i believe this may be the reason i get killed a lot ;)

If you're going to play on a single monitor, the 1060 would allow you to run on at least default settings, with the Environment slider on 1.

If at all possible, connect the computer to your modem/router with an Ethernet cable and leave the WiFi card out of the compilation. WiFi can cause packet losses which may lead to misinformation of your location vs. the opponent, allowing him to kill you instead of the opposite.

Bizman,
Thank you, duly noted, the PC is right next to the router so plug-in is no problem.....Wireless removed. Now i can spend a little more on a better card.

Just went thru the new computer build routine. I chose a EVGA 1060sc 6gig, and a 55" 1080p 120hz TV monitor. Running the game Wide Open, test mode it gets 100+ FR. Looks fantastic :aok to me.

Only playing offline so far tho. So the FR might drop a little when the screen is full of Red Icons! But even then I don't expect any problems, it'll be way above average.

My EVGA 1060 cost $219 on sale, a very good name brand..
Some other 1060's may not be as delux, but you can get for under $200.

Yep, I'd say the 6gig vid memory is worth a little extra $.
I like a high "Bang for Bucks" ratio. This 55" rig, really bangs my eyeballs, lol!

The BB experts here sure helped me get fixed up right.
I LOVE this machine,

Happy toy shopping :D

Well, there you all have it!.

Rule of thumb on this forum.... It don't make you an idiot for not knowing, it makes you an idiot for not asking, and buying something that doesn't work or your not happy with.

These guys here don't bite.

Thanks for all your help and comments.
