NOE raids

Alt is for the weak of heart... those seeking all the advantages they can... lost is the art of creating the overshoot death.

Turkeyslapped from an enemy con above is a badge of honor... wear it proudly when you came into the fight NOE!

After my first full weekend in over a year, I didn't see a single one. They were usually a good source of cheap kills when on a cold streak.

NOEs are gone more or less basically since dar-bar alt was dropped to 200 (250?) and dot-dar alt to 65 ft.
(someone might want to correct the numbers.)

Well make a wish for it in the wish list and give some good reasons why to enhance the community "fun factor".

Now that they are gone, NOE raids were fun to fight against because everyone attacking the field were 5k or lower and we all had to fight until they or we were victorious. And it was never a slam dunk who would win the fight. They were good fights.

The old dar settings allowed for newbies and players a few "too many adult beverages" under the hood to actually make it to the scene of their demise in one piece to add to the over all "fun". I suspect the back end CM settings are Hitech's choice if he wants to make that change until our hoards come back and need to be slowed down a bit again.

There are so many vets making up most of the arena now that any twitching base icon is a reason for a call to carnage even if it's adult beverage induced. Now we need back NOE if it's the carrot to get our risk adverse out of their ack and making targets of themselves.

Exactly my thoughts when I read the OP. Back in the day there was so much lamenting about those "weak cowardly NOE's" and squadrons that used them were called out for it... "afraid to make a darbar and face opposition?"

Well, now they do do and it's wrong again?  :headscratch:

Today's version of a NOE raid is sending in one guy high and fast with eggs and rockets and take out DAR in one suicide pass. Then everyone dog piles on the blinded base. Rinse and repeat. Boring. DAR is the most important tool in the game for finding and creating fights. DAR should be indestructible and cover the whole map.

I would think the new base arrangement and town with 88 we could lift the dar alt.  I bet it is a little more difficult to CAP and capture the bases.

Dot-Dar is the most boring part of the game. Its not used to find fights, its an artificial SA-enhancement, more like the on-board radar in space-combat games than anything that simulates a WW2 ground based radar or human obsever. Sector counters seem fine. But the real-time updating 100% precision and accuracy reports of any individual plane... too much. Limiting it to "roughly there", with some time-delay would make things a lot more interesting. Predicting intentions of reported planes is part of the combat.

Be careful what you wish for. The results could be different from what one is hoping for..  :old:
