Cannot change skins when in hanger

When choosing a plane in the hanger, I wanted to change the skin, and there are quite a number listed, but when I select one, nothing changes, and tried them all and for different planes as well.

Any ideas for root cause?

It's a bug that has been addressed. You can't see other than the default skin in the hangar, but your selection will be present in flight.

As per http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,383708.msg5104529.html#msg5104529 it should be fixed in the next patch.

I'm having the same problem (i.e., "can't change skins while in the hanger").  Ever since the latest patch, I'm stuck with using whatever skin is on the plane now.  I can live with it, but it's just annoying to have a function that should work that doesn't.

You can actually change the skin it just doesn't show in the hanger. Check out the link Bizman posted. Hitech is aware of it and it should be fixed in the next patch.
