« on: December 13, 2016, 11:44:47 PM »
I'm about to order/build a new pc strictly for AH,but was thinking about monitors. .ROG Swift has a 34" curved ultrawide screen but does AH configure to this?..Is the curved screen a gimick?Ultrawide screen might make sense for a first person shooter but AH?..The new pc will be built around a gtx 1080 and an Intel I7 ...Thnx for your inputs

Aces High III will support any resolution the video card supports.

Sirloin, I have 3 ROG Swifts, that particular one you're thinking of is my primary gaming LCD, 1440p 34" Gsync.  I bought their first 27" model when it came out, and then the IPS one that came out after it, but really wanted the 34" 100hz one.  Of course, VR came out right after I got it, and after trying the Rift with AH3, I'll not go back to LCD, and that's the same for many games.  That said, there are still piles of games I play which don't support VR, and the 34" is fantastic for all of them.

If you want to stick with an LCD, the 34" Asus Swift is IMO the very best single screen solution you can get.  Works fantastic with AH3, 100hz/fps, no problem with 1080 SLI (just using one card for AH3 typically).  AH looks and works great with it.  Every other game - if you play any - work great too.  Even just desktop stuff is great with that much screen, 1440p/2k Youtube videos look fantastic.  For a non-VR setup, IMO what you're going to build - 1080/i7-whatever/34"ROG Swift is one of the best "non insane-o" builds you can go with for gaming right now.  AH3, on that LCD, Gsync, max settings - you'll be very impressed, @1440p it's gorgeous.  I did have to screw with my TrackIR clip a bit, and ended up taping it so it would stop coming off the top bezel, but that's NBD.

Too bad you didn't post this a month ago, the Hardware Canucks gaming/HW site for us Canadians had a used one they had for review that they sold for $1100, well, well under retail.  Look around, I've seen them come up used here and there, if that interests you at all.  THere is stock for them in most of the online shops right now as well.
