First letter of his last name is a capitol cursive "A", second is a B, H, or L. The letter with a tail can be G, Q, Y, or even Z depending on which cursive he learned. You can see an obvious cursive miniscule "S" at the end before the last letter, and the last letter looks like a miniscule "H" but could be a "K".
I checked the big book of MLB players against last name matches, even against players with Ted W just in case. I could not make any real pattern matches. Any chance this was a ball signed by a minor league player?
Cursive capitol "W" normally are taught with a tiny flourish opening the first vertical at the top. You can see the "A" starting at the top with a double loop in the vertical before moving into the next letter. Most kids in K-12 were taught the capitol "A" as a giant version of the miniscule "a".
